The Skill parameter has been removed from Smasher infoboxes, and in its place are the new "Best historical ranking" and "Best tournament result" parameters. SmashWiki needs help adding these new parameters to Smasher infoboxes, refer to the guidelines here for what should be included in these new parameters. |
When adding results to Smasher pages, include each tournament's entrant number in addition to the player's placement, and use the {{Trn}} template with the matching game specified. Please also fix old results on Smasher pages that do not abide to this standard. Refer to our Smasher article guidelines to see how results tables should be formatted. |

Pound 4 was a Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl national tournament hosted by Plank and TheTantalus from January 16th-18th, 2010, in Frederick, Maryland. With 347 entrants, it held the record for being the largest Melee tournament for three and a half years before being surpassed by EVO 2013's 709 entrants.
Pound 4 was the first tournament to have all of The Five Gods present. It was also the first US tournament for lots of European top players like Amsah or Overtriforce. For Sweden's Armada and Aniolas, who had previously attended GENESIS, it was their 2nd US tournament.
Pound 4 was the last tournament (excluding sandbagging) at which Armada lost to players not considered to be Top 6 in the world up until EVO 2018, being defeated by SilentSpectre in winners and Amsah in losers to place 4th.
There was also a Captain Falcon ditto round robin in honor of NES n00b, who died shortly before the tournament. It featured Darkrain, SilentSpectre, Scar, and Hax.
Stagelist[edit]
Melee[edit]
- Singles starters: Battlefield, Final Destination, Dream Land, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams
- Doubles starters: Battlefield, Final Destination, Dream Land, Yoshi's Story, Pokémon Stadium
- Singles counterpicks: Kongo Jungle, Rainbow Cruise, Brinstar, Pokémon Stadium
- Doubles counterpicks: Kongo Jungle, Rainbow Cruise, Brinstar
Stage striking was used to decide the first stage of a set.
After a player/team's first loss of the set, they could choose one stage to ban for the rest of the set.
Brawl[edit]
- Starters: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville, Yoshi's Island, Lylat Cruise
- Counterpicks: Delfino Plaza, Frigate Orpheon, Halberd, Rainbow Cruise, Brinstar, Pokémon Stadium
For the first game of a set, each side could strike a starter stage followed by random selection among the remaining starter stages.
After the first game, the winner could ban a stage, followed by the loser picking among the remaining starters and counterpicks. Curiously, the documented ruleset implies that no further stage bans would take place for the rest of the set, meaning that the loser of the first game would not get to ban a stage throughout the set.
The tournament also included a Brawl+ side event with in-person same-day registration only. The stagelist for that side event was not documented.

Trivia[edit]
- The following European players attended Pound 4:
- Armada's losses to SilentSpectre & Amsah were his last losses to a player other than one of the Five Gods or Leffen until Swedish Delight at EVO 2018 more than 8 years later.
- In May 2019, more than nine years after the tournament was hosted, it was discovered Armada and SilentSpectre's historic set was played on 0.9 launch rate rather that the standard 1.0.[1]
- Armada stated he was disappointed he would have to remember the set again and people would hold SilentSpectre's win as less legitimate.[2]
