The following is a list of all on-screen appearances in Super Smash Bros. 4. Dr. Mario, Mewtwo, and Roy received new on-screen appearances due to their absences in Brawl, since this feature was absent in Melee.

Bayonetta[edit]

  • Emerges from her Bat Within form and produces the purple Umbran Witch symbol.

Bowser[edit]

  • Emerges from a wall of flames hunched over, before standing upright.

Bowser Jr.[edit]

Captain Falcon[edit]

  • The Blue Falcon spins to a stop, Captain Falcon jumps out, and then Blue Falcon speeds off. The animation differs depending on which direction he is facing; when facing right, he simply climbs out, while when facing left, he somersaults while doing so.

Charizard[edit]

Cloud[edit]

Corrin[edit]

  • Falls onto the stage in dragon form, then transforms into human form.

Dark Pit[edit]

Diddy Kong[edit]

Donkey Kong[edit]

Falco[edit]

  • Ejects from an upside-down Arwing.

Fox[edit]

  • Ejects from an Arwing.

King Dedede[edit]

  • Is carried in on a palanquin by four Waddle Dees, then jumps off, scattering them.

Kirby[edit]

Link[edit]

  • Appears from within a whirlwind and equips the Master Sword and Hylian Shield. Seemingly based on the warping animation seen upon using the Recorder in The Legend of Zelda.

Little Mac[edit]

  • Jogs onto the stage and throws off his pink training suit (unless the player chose to wear it at the character select screen, in which case Mac simply does the throwing motion without removing the suit).

Lucario[edit]

  • Teleports on stage, floats for a second, gathers aura in its hands then lands.

Lucas[edit]

Lucina[edit]

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic while twirling and removes her mask.

Luigi[edit]

Marth[edit]

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic while twirling.

Mega Man[edit]

Meta Knight[edit]

  • Teleports in, wrapped in his cape.

Mewtwo[edit]

  • Teleports onto the stage using dark energy.

Mii Brawler[edit]

  • Lands with an explosion then performs attacks towards the screen.

Mii Gunner[edit]

  • Emerges from an orb of energy, then points their arm cannon towards the screen.

Mii Swordfighter[edit]

  • Appears from a whirlwind, then unsheathes their sword.

Mr. Game & Watch[edit]

  • Moves along a row of faded Game & Watch LCD frames until he reaches the foreground. Unlike in Brawl, the color of the frames match the alternate costume.

Ness[edit]

  • Arrives having used Teleport, then shakes off the soot he gathered after crashing.

Olimar[edit]

Pac-Man[edit]

  • Starts out as the classic Pac-Man sprite and then jumps out of it into his normal form.

Palutena[edit]

  • Walks in from a set of golden doors with a heavenly glow surrounding her.

Peach[edit]

  • Appears spinning out of a shower of hearts and poses with her parasol while saying "Hi!".

  • Spin Dashes onto the stage in ball form from the foreground and poses.

Toon Link[edit]

Villager[edit]

  • Exits out of a house and cheers to the camera. References the start of Animal Crossing games, where the player exits their home upon opening a save file.

Wario[edit]

  • Rides in from the foreground on his bike, then falls off. The bike then explodes and Wario dusts himself off.

Wii Fit Trainer[edit]

  • Steps off of the living Wii Balance Board seen in the Wii Fit series, who then jumps behind the stage waving goodbye and disappears.

Yoshi[edit]

  • Breaks out of a Yoshi Egg and strikes a pose while shaking his tail. The color of the Yoshi will determine the color of the spots on the egg. Based on Yoshi hatching from a Yoshi Egg in Super Mario World.

Zelda[edit]

  • Teleports in with magic in her hands.

Zero Suit Samus[edit]

  • Jumps out of her Gunship and lands with her jet boots.
