At first I thought it was the lighting of Mario Galaxy that made him look pink but its probably a palette swap --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 11:18, 10 January 2014 (EST)

In Brawl, wasn't the gold on Dedede's hat silver in the pink palette swap? Did Sakurai say this was a palette swap or is there a chance the lighting made him look pink? SeanWheeler (talk) 12:06, 10 January 2014 (EST)

The idea that the lighting is causing this change is nonsense. Why would only all the red on his hat and robes change color when nothing else does, not even the parts of his body or clothing (crown) close to those edges? The robes are particularly notable since they aren't in direct view of the light source. In addition, take a look at other screenshots on the Mario Galaxy stage. No other character has changed color. Look at red characters. None are pink now. In fact, take a look at Dedede on Pyrosphere; despite the lighting on that stage causing more noticable effects than Mario Galaxy, he is still very clearly red. The fact that his crown isn't silver is likely either due to the fact that this is prerelease, or that they decided to change the palette to not include the silver.
Sorry to be so blunt about this; I'm not usually like this, but this notion is really completely ridiculous. Whether or not this changes by release, this beta screenshot shows what is, or was during development, an alternate palette for Dedede. ♡FirstaLasto♥ 13:55, 24 June 2014 (EDT)
