These are some things I'm worried about based on what we've seen so far. If you have proof about any of these being confirmed as right or wrong, please let me know (at the bottom of the page).

  • Kirby's Hammer will be weak in its uncharged state. ~This one is mainly due to the move having a chargable state in the first place.
  • Toon Link won't get any new moves, and won't have his existing special moves changed to a significant enough extent to justify his inclusion. ~Toon Link was among the first veterans confirmed post-e3, and yet we still haven't seen any new moves for him. Sakurai had the perfect opportunity to showcase some during the smash direct, so it seems like it just isnt gonna happen.
    • Ganondorf won't have his moveset changed significantly. ~This one is partially due to Toon Links thing; a bunch of already unique characters are getting major changes (most notably Bowser), but the only confirmed clone isnt? In addition, Ganondorf is Sakurais favorite character in Brawl, and it seems even more unlikely to think the director would change his favorite thing.
  • The lack of an octagon frame on the sticks for both consoles will make it difficult to do certain things consistently, notably crawling, angling attacks, and tap jump. ~Smash Bros for the N64 was originally designed specifically for the unique joystick, as in Sakurai built the game around the joystick, not that he just made sure it worked for it. Every Nintendo console prior to the WiiU had these sticks as well, so the other games also had any new mechanics made with the sticks in mind. Without them, players have a lot less directional precision, which causes a lot problems (but at least the WiiU version will likely support Wii controllers).

Commenty Section

If you have proof against or for any of my worries, or even material that greatly suggests, feel free to put it down here.

  • We have seen all four of Toon Link's Brawl moves, so all they can change now is the Final Smash. My only concern regards R.O.B. I've only just started maining him, so if he isn't in Smash 4, it won't have counted for much. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatum 11:41, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
  • Not necessarily. As Sakurai said on Peach's reveal: "Pic of the day. Peach joins the battle! We've added 10 pictures of her on the website, but keep in mind that the game is still in development. Her moves may be refreshed by the time the games are released."
  • And even if his special moves aren't changed, he'll very likely get some new standard moves (though Sakurai really should have shown some of them off so people wouldn't have bitched so much about Toon Link's reveal). Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 12:10, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
  • You'd think they would have changed them by now if they were planning to at all, being that Toon Link was among the first characters revealed. It's not like they didnt have time, and now theyre running out. Not that changing them would take long, but since theyre also doIng balancing tests... FirstaLasto 14:27, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
  • Being revealed early does not at all mean the character was one of the first characters developed and already extensively developed, reveal order is pretty much meaningless as it is (and Toon Link was explicitly revealed early to promote Wind Waker HD). If anything, Toon Link was revealed in an early state before they got around to really changing him, and we have absolutely not seen anywhere near everything they done so far, so there is no basis to claim he isn't being changed. • That's a good point. But if they have made changes to his moveset, why not showcase them in the verteran changes sections of the smash direct? Even Links new jump attack was briefely shown at the end of it without him getting his own section. Speaking of which, they might have opted to change Link instead of Toon Link, which I would be okay with if they at least changed Toon Links forward smash (Links is unique enough that giving TL a different one would satisfy me at this point).
On an unrelated note, why are we using bullet points for the comments? FirstaLasto 15:30, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
Why weren't the rest of the veterans we hardly seen any of shown much? Sakurai has been consistently giving little information about Smash 4 and clearly teasing fans at points; if anything, I would say Sakurai is fully aware of the fans' complaints about Toon Link and is intentionally stringing them along about him, making them think he and Link haven't been differentiated more before finally showing him off.
And I see no point to the bullet points either, Toast posted with one and I just followed suit. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 15:43, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
Yeah, you might be right, but I can't help but worry. I guess the fact that my worry list is so short should make me worry less, though. FirstaLasto 15:59, 22 April 2014 (EDT)
