Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature. Long explanations for your vote are discouraged, as they are unnecessary (a vote is worth the same regardless of its reasoning), and they inflate the size of an already large page.
  2. You can vote only once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may vote only in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and take effect only when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things such as "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already large page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Multiple votes are not allowed; attempts to circumvent this with sockpuppets will result in your vote being discounted entirely, and is a bannable offense. Probated users who attempt to circumvent their probation with sockpuppets are also committing a bannable offense and will have their vote discounted. Remember that admins have access to Check User to check the IPs of any user, and will use it when sockpuppetry is suspected.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.

Above all, remember that voting in the Smash Arena is a privilege, not a right. In the vein of what SmashWiki is not, you are expected to at least attempt reasonable contributions to the wiki if you wish to retain your privilege to participate.

Two Assist Trophies both skilled in the ancient arts, while both from worlds with futuristic technology. But will the super-speedy soldier score success? Or will the covert cyborg collect conquest?

Votes for Samurai Goroh

  1. I think I played F-Zero. Like, once. Infernape612 (talk) 11:15, 26 January 2013 (EST)
  2. They're both pains, but this one doesn't respawn, at least. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 12:01, 26 January 2013 (EST)
  3. Has more comical sound effects. Plus, Gray Fox deflected my fully charged charge shot and KOed me once.70.27.27.187 13:27, 26 January 2013 (EST)

Votes for Gray Fox

  1. Terrible is 2013 CE 10:53, 26 January 2013 (EST)
  2. Even though he is unlockable (I don't like unlockable Assist Trophies) I still like Gray Fox better. BunnyHoodYoshi9001 Talk to me 11:45, 26 January 2013 (EST)
  3. He looks cooler, and has personalized speeches when Snake appears. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 14:15, 26 January 2013 (EST)
  4. Is way more helpful and is way cooler looking. Wiiurocks (talk) 14:31, 26 January 2013 (EST)
  5. I guess I have not much choice. I'll choose this one since Gray Fox sounds like a cool name and that he can survive many hits unlike Gorah. Dots NintenNESsprite.png The Zergling 15:10, 26 January 2013 (EST)

Corneria

Corneria full.jpg
Two variations of the fight-on-the-Great-Fox-with-Arwings-shooting-you stage. Will size or number of lasers come out on top?

Votes for Sector Z

  1. This stage is so big and so awesome! Shanderu MiniGhost.png 12:01, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  2. Ah, memories. Outside of that, I have no other reason to vote for either of these. BlueRidiculous (talk) 12:10, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  3. I really love space.--ShupaRoehTypicalGuy.png 13:34, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  4. Can't really decide, so I'll vote for the one with less votes. Infernape612 (talk) 13:55, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  5. This one's got a cooler background. Wiiurocks (talk) 15:36, 19 January 2013 (EST)

  8. Solid SSB stage. 67.173.145.76 23:49, 25 January 2013 (EST)

Half-Votes

  1. I think it's better because it is so much bigge —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mizzo (talkcontribs) 17:40, 21 January 2013 (EST)

Votes for Corneria

  1. yay first vote. anyway, ness psi magnet+great fox main cannon=what th...?70.27.27.187 12:05, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  2. Vote No.1, You Were Editing At The Same Time As Me. Blast3920 (talk) 12:12, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  3. This is a difficult choice, so I'll just randomly choose the stage I'll vote for. 204.191.140.194 12:29, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  4. There isn't much difference between the two Great Fox versions but I'll go for this one. Dots NintenNESsprite.png The Metal Slug 12:55, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  5. I love Corneria. It's so bad. Air Conditioner AC.png Vandals suck. 13:04, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  6. Well this is my favorite stage... DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 13:05, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  7. Really there is no difference, but Melee is way better. Terrible is 2013 CE 15:48, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  8. Errmahgerrd I didn't vote on the last fight. I prefer a nice blue sky to space, and you can't stand on Sector Z's guns, which makes for sad faces. And less camping, but it's a campy stage anyway. To think the Great Fox is still undersized even in Sector Z. But yes, big fan of Corneria, must vote for it. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 16:16, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  9. --Havoc48 >:D!!! 16:21, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  10. Much more interesting stage. Also, Sector Z is so large that gameplay descends into camping and stalling, making it less fun. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 17:11, 19 January 2013 (EST)
  11. Well, I'm just very cool with this stage. I love luring the enemy into the fire, then... BOOM! And the Luigi is gone! *Cilit Bang reference*--94.15.19.128 07:29, 20 January 2013 (EST)
  12. The background's cooler, though Sector Z's background has its charm. Also, the guns and Smash taunts. JamesJH-Heartless.pngHeart 17:39, 20 January 2013 (EST)
  13. I have so much nostalgia for this stage, it was the first one I played in Melee and the music is epic as. 110.174.90.69 20:06, 20 January 2013 (EST)
  14. the laser + hothead= really BIG hothead.Crazy Hand (talk) 16:26, 21 January 2013 (EST)
  15. Smaller 129.128.29.134 10:07, 22 January 2013 (EST)
  16. Isn't as ridiculously huge (though it does have a problem with way too close blast lines). Plus Sector Z has the most boring background of any stage. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 13:40, 22 January 2013 (EST)
  17. OT's right, Sector Z has the most boring background ever. ChuckNorris24.png 16:23, 25 January 2013 (EST)
