From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.
The Rules
- When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
- You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
- Put a
#
before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
- Type
~~~~
after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
- There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
- Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
- You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
- You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
- Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
- While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing
|}
). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
- If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
- Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
- Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
- Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.
If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.
Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.
- Don't mess with Ness. AirConditioner File:Accoolx.png 12:29, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
- Even though I'm not a really fan of using Ness in Smash Bros., he's one of the asian people you shouldn't mess with because he has a baseball bat and PSI Powers. ..... The EarthBound 12:35, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
- Ness is alot better because I'm used to playing him throughout all the Smash Bros. games. Unlike Poke'mon Trainer who debuted in Brawl. --SSBfan1239 (talk) 12:50, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
Votes for Star Fox Smash Taunt
- Star Fox pilots ftw. Avengingbandit 00:56, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Star Fox is awesome!!! MarioSonic10 (talk) 08:33, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Fox is cool in Brawl and so is Falco and Wolf!! 67.68.41.205 08:35, 2 June 2012 (EDT) The Awesome
- No way! I don't believe it! -- That's always been my favourite line in the Star Fox series. Toast ltimatum 08:42, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Somewhat of a bias, but Star Fox is better. ShupaRoeh 09:08, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- "These guys are weaker than overcooked noodles!" 123JamesHeart 17:24, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Like I said before, Starfox 64 was the first game I played. That game was the pinnacle of my childhood(besides Sonic Adventure). And plus, Metal Gear has an extreme lack of barrel rolls. --Fan275 13:36, 3 June 2012 (EDT)
Votes for Snake's Smash Taunt
- These are freakin' hilarious and have more variety. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 00:19, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- The character's of Snake's universe are simply more compelling and fun to listen to compared to Star Fox's. --- ReiDemon, Author Extraordinaire, 00:34, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Cambell,Otacon, Mei Ling(plus Slippy I guess...). Having a good ol' time refrencing oh so many gamees of theres. Though this is kinda bias as I'm a HUGE Metal Gear fanboy. Plus, how can you not like the jokes? But I'll change my vote as soon Peppy says "Do a barrell roll!" In one of the Smash Taunts. Headmaster Hand (talk) 01:27, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Colonel? Colonel, snap out of it! COOOOOOOLOOOOOOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 24.168.107.113 09:33, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- They are funnier than star fox. Stranger 1260 09:59, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- As a series I prefer Star Fox, but the Metal Gear Solid Smash Taunt is awesome. 110.174.90.69 10:00, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- I like the star Fox series more personaly, but I love these Metal Gear taunts. --SSBfan1239 (talk) 12:01, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- I love how that in their series, their communication talk are both funny. Although Star Fox messages are more better in terms of funnies and comedy, do like the fourth wall breaking in Metal Gear Solid. ..... The Scientist 13:33, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Hilarity Ensues. 204.191.133.47 13:37, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- "Samus just took off her clothes!" Mr. Anontalk 14:07, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Colonel hates Luigi! >:( Anyways the Smash Taunts for Lucas and Olimar were very thought out. LightningBlue: Cinco de Smash 16:08, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- The jokes conduct better than metal and the series itself is geared towards a more mature audience. AirConditioner File:Accoolx.png 16:22, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Hilarious194.17.116.198 02:05, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
- Perfect proof that not all shooting games are just about the shooting, graphics, and violence. Toadat9021doh (talk) 15:46, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
- Snake and Otacon should start a Captain Falcon Fan Club. F1reBurn1ng (talk) 19:47, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
- Snake wondering if he'd be as fast as ZeroSuit Samus if he took of his suit too.. lol.71.55.132.150 21:52, 4 June 2012 (EDT)BK
- The Cheese says: They're just so funny!!! 75.31.4.16 11:04, 5 June 2012 (EDT) The Cheese
- Ugh, this one is really hard to decide; both sets of Smash Taunts are great/hilarious! I'll go with Snake's Smash Taunt as there's a greater number of them and they tend to provide more insight on certain characters. On another note, the Codec Conversation concerning Luigi is just creepy at the ending. XD And bonus points for Slippy since he has appearances in BOTH Smash Taunts, as previously mentioned. Fenyx4 (talk) 22:51, 7 June 2012 (EDT)
- Best!37.17.253.253 14:30, 8 June 2012 (EDT)
- I really don't like Metal Gear, but I think Snake's Smash Taunt has more variety. They change for each character you fight on Shadow Moses Island, whereas Star Fox just for each Star Fox character you fight AS. Seriously though, Sakaurui, kinda like Fenyx said, how Colnel dissed Luigi was just creepy, but for me you're rubbing in this "Luigi lives in Mario's shadow " crap in our faces way too much. 98.247.37.38 10:41, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
This an interesting match-up... And you really don't know who will get the edge. Headmaster Hand (talk) 01:29, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Guys every comment for Snake's Smash Taunts under mine (#3) is misplaced. Toomai who is in charge of putting votes into the half-votes section? LightningBlue: Cinco de Smash 16:09, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- Well that was strange. LightningBlue: Cinco de Smash 16:18, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
- @LightningBlue: Any user can move an incorrect vote into the half-vote section. DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 17:06, 2 June 2012 (EDT)
AirConditioner, leave the bad puns to Toast. F1reBurn1ng (talk) 19:50, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
- Aww, c'mon. Don't do that. People are having a smashing time here. F1reBurn1ng (talk) 19:21, 5 June 2012 (EDT)
What happened to the sonic vs. shadow suggestion??? 67.68.41.205 21:23, 5 June 2012 (EDT) The Awesome
- It's either in the queue or rejected (I think it's in the queue though; it was popular enough). But if it did get accepted, it'll still most likely be a few weeks, so try to be patient until then and enjoy the matches we have until then. 123JamesHeart 21:35, 5 June 2012 (EDT)
Thanks a lot!!! 67.68.41.205 21:38, 5 June 2012 (EDT) The Awesome
Loving the puns present in this match. Fenyx4 (talk) 22:51, 7 June 2012 (EDT)
- Then where did the Wario vs. Waluigi suggestion go?194.17.116.198 03:03, 8 June 2012 (EDT)
- The decision of whether it will or will not appear on Smash Arena has been decided, it does not need to be on Suggestions any more. Toast ltimatum 07:45, 8 June 2012 (EDT)
I tried to do a smash attack for both of them but it doesn't work? How do I do it??? (with wii remote only). 67.68.41.205 08:24, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
- Plug in a Nunchuk (-_(-__-)_-) Or even better, a Classic Controller. You're supposed to do these smash taunts by glazing the down taunt button for a very, very brief time, but you'll struggle with a solo Wii Remote. Toast ltimatum 08:30, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
