Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
  2. You can only vote once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may only vote in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and only take effect when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things along the lines of "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half.

Round 133: Saffron City vs. Fourside

Twin skyscraping cities are up in this round. Which outbuildings the other?

Votes for Saffron City

  1. Saffron City was more compact and fair, Fourside had lots of hiding places. Not to mention all the Pokémon that pop out of the building (I liked Porygon best in Smash), and even the bird Pokémon in the background. I once named a goldfish Saffron, but I called my Animal Crossing town Onett, not Fourside :| Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 21:14, 6 April 2012 (EDT)

The items of most and least knockback face off. Will rapid paper strike, or will the wallop of wood win?

Votes for Fan

  1. Racks up a lot of damage. 204.191.139.195 12:23, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  2. I prefer speed to power.174.20.228.189 15:03, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  3. Pity vote. 24.168.93.43 15:23, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  4. Pity 199.185.67.18 11:35, 2 April 2012 (EDT)
  5. Its slow falling speed makes it ideal in Multi-Man Brawl. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 20:27, 2 April 2012 (EDT)
  6. I'm not really a fan of one hit KOs. That's just batty. --Havoc48 >:D!!! 19:47, 3 April 2012 (EDT)
  7. I like the bat and all, but i hate the 3 second charge up.98.116.4.145 08:48, 6 April 2012 (EDT)

Votes for Home-Run Bat

  1. On one side, we have a weapon that does minimal damage! On another, we have a 1HKO!!! AccoolX File:Accoolx.png 09:33, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  2. I find throwing the Home-Run Bat at unsuspecting enemies to be more effective than slapping them around with the fan for a bit. 110.174.90.69 12:16, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  3. I never use the Fan. Ever. Mostly because of how weak it is, but also because there are no Fan-related bonuses in Melee. The Home-run Bat, on the other hand; it causes one-hit KOs, and there is a Melee bonus that you get each time you KO with the bat (you can get it many times quickly with the one-hit KOs). Plus, the bat's lag never seems to bother me. RickTommy (talk) 12:32, 31 March 2012(EDT)
  4. Fan, Half-Decent combo shot. Home-Run Bat, Masive damage, Knockback, and KO potential. No contest at all. --71.48.179.136 12:37, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  5. The Home-Run Bat is significantly stronger, and it's my 2nd favorite item in the Smash Bros. series. (my favorite item is the Hammer) Smash Master 12:43, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  6. Really don't like the Fan, Home-Run Bat is OK. If I have items turned on, I don't play with either, but I guess Home-Run Bat is slightly better. Doesn't warrant a pun though. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 13:27, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  7. Like Toast says on his comment for Ness on his userpage, "Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat." Also, my baseball game was rained out today, which also inspired me to vote for this. KREEEEENG! Kind regards, MeleeMarth01. MM01Sig.png 13:29, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  8. There's a reason the fan isn't used in Home Run Contest. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 13:31, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  9. The bat reminds me of EarthBound of when Ness does a smash attack. ..... The Spectre NintenNESsprite.png 13:59, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  10. Home-Run Bat + High Items= Chaos! Yoshirocks341 YoshiHeadSSBB.png 15:45, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  11. When I hit my opponent with a weapon, I don't want him/her to get knocked closer to me. Instead, I want him/her to go away. Far away. 123JamesHeart PatheticStickFigure.jpg 16:27, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  12. Better for throwing. 1HKO only works in four player matches. Seen players online do it. Never works. LightningBlue: Music is Power 17:35, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  13. Duh. better than fan by miles. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 18:05, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  14. I like to play baseball in real life, so the bat gets my vote. --Fireemblemlogo.pngFan275 18:11, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  15. Why not? DoctorPain99 {ROLLBACKER} 21:00, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  16. It can make a Blast Box explode in one hit! Cool! ShupaRoeh (talk) 23:53, 31 March 2012 (EDT)
  17. PING! Nuff said.King KirbyD (talk) 01:55, 1 April 2012 (EDT)
  18. Often overlooked is the Bat's incredible prowess as a throwing weapon. It flies fast, KOs well under 100%, and it's the strongest throwing item in Brawl that is reusable without needing to be recaught. This is what makes it such a deadly and effective item, not its OHKO potential with its smash attack. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 02:10, 1 April 2012 (EDT)
  19. PING! I need not explain further. Blue Ninjakoopa(Talk) 02:18, 1 April 2012 (EDT)
  20. Obviously, fan is not good enough, and bat is much more powerful than fan. Stranger1260 (talk) 05:50, 1 April 2012 (EDT)
  21. See Omega Tyrant's vote. I love to throw these at people. Meta Ike MetaIke.png 10:02, 1 April 2012 (EDT)
  22. I agree with Omega Tyrant's vote. It flies fast and it KOs well. --Otaku-Kirby (talk) 17:12, 2 April 2012 (EDT)
  23. Because it rocks and can go REEEEEAAAALLLLLLYYYYY far and is a OHKO but uses up time... Still good though 207.236.90.177 14:58, 3 April 2012 (EDT)
  24. Yeah, I usually always ignore fans if they appear. Bats, however, have strength and powah. 140.182.209.195 09:02, 4 April 2012 (EDT)
  25. "KREEEEENG!" Most Wonderful Sound, indeed. Although I've gradually taken a liking to the Fan's Lethal Joke Weapon properties, scoring a one-hit knockout (OHKO) with the Home-Run Bat is one of the most satisfying videogame experiences ever. A bit easier to do in multiplayer due to the sheer chaoticness arising during a match; pulling it off in single-player is amazing. A shame that it's very predictable, but the predictability of it makes actually pulling off a "home run" feel even greater! And finally, Ness packs a pseudo-Home Run Bat as a smash attack, to boot! 72.3.33.10 15:59, 4 April 2012 (EDT)
  26. SMAAAAAAAASSHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Idk. I just have always prefered the Home-Run Bat. GormanLuigi Circus Leader's Mask.png 11:33, 6 April 2012 (EDT)
  27. Though its possible to spam either I guess, I dislike the spamming of the fan more than that of the bat. The bat gets it over with more quickly. ;P 71.48.126.71 12:46, 6 April 2012 (EDT)

  1. Oh, wow. Though the difficulty of escaping the fan, I believe it's much better to send them skyrocketing off the stage with a three-second charge-up. I agree, with the guy above me, too..... "KREEEEEEEEENG" (More like "K'DEEEEEENG") is the most satisfying sound in the game. MILK! (talk) 16:11, 4 April 2012 (EDT)
