amiibo Tag Team Tourney (育てたamiiboと挑め! タッグトーナメント, Challenge the Raised amiibo! Tag Tournament), known as Stand By Me, amiibo in PAL regions prior to the 2024 iteration, was an Event Tourney. It ran from 6 a.m. on January 10, 2020 to 6 a.m. on January 13, 2020 (UTC), and was repeated on the following dates:

  • 6 a.m. on May 13, 2022 to 6 a.m. on May 16, 2022 (UTC)
  • 6 a.m. on May 12, 2023 to 6 a.m. on May 15, 2023 (UTC)
  • 6 a.m. on March 1, 2024 to 6 a.m. on March 6, 2024 (UTC)

During the event, all matches were Team Battles with amiibo teammates.

In the 2024 iteration, the banner and description would be changed, as well as the English PAL region name being changed to match the NTSC name.

Trivia[edit]

  • This was the first Online Tourney event to feature team battles, as well as allow amiibo to participate.
    • This was also the first time in the entire Smash series to allow team battles in any of the games' Tourney modes.
  • Dark Samus, Richter and every character in Fighters Pass 1 and 2 had their amiibo released after the tournament's first run and thus were not available as amiibo teammates.
    • This was updated in the first repeat to include Dark Samus, Richter and all Fighters Pass characters up to Min Min. The second repeat added Steve, Sephiroth and Kazuya, while the third repeat added Pyra, Mythra and Sora.
  • amiibo not at level 50 wouldn't level up, like most online modes.[9]
  • Despite players being unable to taunt, the amiibo still could.
  • Due to an error, amiibo wouldn't appear in the 2022 repeat of the event. This was eventually fixed.[10]
  • This is the only Event Tourney to change its banner (and title in the case of PAL regions) between runs.
