Crown Landing GIF

I saw on Crown Landing that you had tagged the related GIF as low-quality. I've recently been using some software called FFmpeg for GIFs (such as for the on-screen appearances for Ultimate) and thought I could help in getting a higher-quality version of the GIF. Seeing as you are the one who made the GIF and the accompanying video I figured you would be the best one to bring this up to. --CanvasK (talk) 15:14, May 28, 2020 (EDT)

Sure, feel free. --King K. Rool SSBU.pngPlague von KarmaKing K. Rool SSBU.png 16:10, May 28, 2020 (EDT)
Should I just use the YouTube video? --CanvasK (talk) 16:19, May 28, 2020 (EDT)
Feel free! --King K. Rool SSBU.pngPlague von KarmaKing K. Rool SSBU.png 16:40, May 28, 2020 (EDT)
Is there anything specific you would like changed, like frame rate or size? --CanvasK (talk) 16:52, May 28, 2020 (EDT)
I don't really mind. If it'll look good for viewers, that's all that's necessary :) --King K. Rool SSBU.pngPlague von KarmaKing K. Rool SSBU.png 16:55, May 28, 2020 (EDT)
Done. Has better colors but unfortunately the file size grew some. --CanvasK (talk) 17:04, May 28, 2020 (EDT)

Discord

I don't mean to bring Discord drama to the wiki, but I'm unable to DM you on discord. I have a couple points I'd like to quickly say that may interest you to return to the Discord:

1) As of now, OT has been demoted.
2) Sometime today, SK plans on creating a channel for discussing what all happened last night and it will be open to everyone. So you can participate if you wish.

I also really enjoyed playing Ultimate with you in general, and even if you don't return I'd still very much at least like for that to continue. :) VoqéoT 10:35, June 21, 2020 (EDT)

Notability update

Hey just wanted to let you know that I responded to your comment on the Notability proposal. The intention is to include people such as labbers, but if the wording isn't clear enough then feel free to edit the draft. Pokebub (talk) 02:59, July 6, 2020 (EDT)

So to not bloat the proposal's support list, I'll reply here. I think the wording could be changed to include people who support character communities as well. For example, Grace and Glory has been a massive supporter of Captain Falcon's character community and could even be said to be responsible for the character being changed last patch. There's also people like EyeDonutz who have almost single-handedly labbed the character's entire metagame and optimized a lot of the tech behind them. I won't personally edit the draft out of respect, and so to not unintentionally transform the meaning of the proposal. --PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 10:53, July 6, 2020 (EDT)
Could you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by "people who support communities"? Seeing as how this is a policy, I'd like to be as detailed as possible. Pokebub (talk) 17:08, July 7, 2020 (EDT)
Think D3nsity and Lewdcario. Players like that who heavily contribute to media or general large sections of communities. It's hard to explain. --PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 19:32, July 7, 2020 (EDT)

Categories and list or armored attacks lists' redirects

Good afternoon Plague, in some of the recent pages you created, such as Smashmate and Tournament:Tamisuma (series), you forgot to categorize page. Just a small reminder.

Second thing, as you can see here, three of your former draft pages are left as redirects. Are you keeping them for any particular reason? If no, can I get a green light to tag them for deletion and replace links on your userpage and Talk:Armor? Superbound (talk) 07:22, March 25, 2021 (EDT)

Yeah, forgetting to categorize is a horrible habit of mine. I fixed Tamisuma just now, but Smashmate was already categorized under websites, which I believe is all that's necessary. Feel free to mark those drafts, too. Thanks for the heads-up! --PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 07:41, March 25, 2021 (EDT)
Oh, my bad with Smashmate. I'm already done with these. Have a good day! Superbound (talk) 07:50, March 25, 2021 (EDT)

A request

While you're gathering data for unplayable characters, do you mind gathering double jump data for the first three games (melee is missing the data for characters with multiple or delayed double jumps, and brawl and 64 are missing the data entirely), as well as the short hop data for brawl and 64? I'm trying to make attribute data tables for each character so the stats can be directly specified on each characters' page, but that pretty important double jump and short hop data is missing for the first three games. Unnamed anon (talk) 16:08, May 1, 2023 (EDT)

You're probably after this, which came from this. --PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 21:28, May 2, 2023 (EDT)

Giant Kirby in Melee Adventure Mode

According to the Giant Kirby page, the Giant Kirby from Melee's Adventure Mode is slightly bigger than a Kirby that has a Super Mushroom applied to it. Could you please datamine (if possible) to determine if this statement is true, and if so what the actual multipliers for his increased weight and strength are if they are any different from a normal Super Mushroom effect? Given how your experience in datamining Melee with Giga Bowser and the Wireframes, is Giant Kirby coded to be a separate character like Giant Donkey Kong in 64 is? If Giant Kirby is literally just a Kirby with a permanent Super Mushroom instead of something like 64 Giant DK, I think the Giant Kirby page should be deleted. Whatever you find, talk about it here or on my own talk page please, I'm currently taking a break from discord. Unnamed anon (talk) 04:39, July 1, 2023 (EDT)

I can definitely confirm that Giant Kirby is not its own character, that's for certain. I'm not as experienced at datamining as you might imagine, but I'd hazard a guess that Giant Kirby is just Kirby with a permanent Super Mushroom effect and a handicap, the latter being a commonality in any single-player mode in Smash. --PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 04:51, July 1, 2023 (EDT)
The Giant Kirby page says that Giant Kirby is slightly bigger than a Kirby with a Super Mushroom. Is that part actually true, or just human error because he bounced in his idle animation (I don't have a gamecube nor Melee, I can't look myself). Either way, your statement that he is not a separate character was the final nail that the page should be deleted anyways, so thank you. Unnamed anon (talk) 04:59, July 1, 2023 (EDT)
I'm really not sure about whether he's bigger or not, there's a Model Size multiplier that could have been applied, but what matters is it isn't a distinct character. --PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 05:27, July 1, 2023 (EDT)

Ultimate Boss pages

I messages you on the discord server, but in case you are taking a break from it, if you were having trouble with ultimate boss pages, there's a mod that makes them playable. (https://gamebanana.com/mods/457095). Granted, this mod rebalances the bosses, which is unfortunate, but it is proof that it is possible to play as them. You could probably ask this mod's creator for a version without rebalances. Unnamed anon (talk) 15:43, August 29, 2023 (EDT)

I wasn't taking a break, I was just asleep. I've had a quick look and it seems to fall into the issues I brought up in the standards I set out: There are numerous fundamental changes that are made, beyond just balancing tweaks. These aren't like the Brawl bosses.
Consider my candidacy description of Dracula:
Dracula does not qualify due to an apparent lack of debug controls that would make him usable. Thus, he would require large-scale modifications to the game that place him outside the scope of the project.
This remains the case. It's definitely close, but if I were to make pages about these characters, I would most definitely be covering the mod, not the actual boss, which falls outside of the wiki's scope. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Plague von Karma (talkcontribs) 17:40, August 29, 2023 (EDT)

Smash Poll edit

I understand the exact wording of the website claims that Melee wasn't planned at the time of the poll, but there is a Famitsu article written by Sakurai himself in 2001 where he admits this was a lie. He claims to have finished the initial design document on July 5th, 1999, and thus was working on it when the poll was active in May, 1999. He denied this at the time to make the reveal a surprise and avoid pressure from the public so early on. The game was technically being worked on, just not actively. News Flash! Smash Bros. Dojo: Smash Begins! The Other Jared (talk) 18:00, November 21, 2023 (EST)

The edit needs to be more precise, then. You should directly refer to this source and mention how the design document was still being drafted, which would be more accurate than stating the game itself was in development. By this point, there wasn't any source code or anything, just a document that still had to be proposed. It's development, but not in the way the layman would picture it. -PlagueSigImage.pngPlague von KarmaPlagueSigImage.png 01:44, November 22, 2023 (EST)
