Headless Hammer

The Headless Hammer is an item of sorts in SSBM and SSBB. When a Hammer is picked up, there is a small chance it will become this item. The Hammer head flies off, and the main item becomes completely useless.

This puts the wielder in a bad position, as hammers are hard to drop, meaning they are not only stuck with an inability to attack and reduced mobility, but have created a very powerful item that others can use against him by throwing it. The Golden Hammer can malfunction in a similar way, by becoming the Golden Squeaky Hammer, which is less obvious than the headless hammer, but about equally as punishable.
