Article on Wikipedia Creeper (Minecraft)

The Creeper (クリーパー, Creeper) is a hostile mob found in Minecraft. It is one of the game's mascots, appearing in its logo, and one of its most iconic design aspects.

Origin

A Creeper exploding.

The Creeper is a hostile mob in Minecraft and spawns in the Overworld when the light level is below 7. The Creeper was accidentally created when the model for a Pig had its body's height and length mistakenly flipped, resulting in a distinctive four-legged creature with a long torso and no arms. When it notices a player, the Creeper will move towards it and explode when close enough, creating a small crater; the explosions are one of the most damaging attacks in the game and can potentially kill the player; it also causes significant damage to any nearby structures, such as player-made housing. The Creeper can also explode when the player ignites the Creeper with flint and steel. When hit by lightning, the Creeper becomes charged and deals even more damage with a larger explosion radius, potentially killing the player even with full diamond armor.

Killing a Creeper accrues 5 EXP orbs, and it may drop up to two pieces of gunpowder, as well as a random music disc if it is killed by a Skeleton or a Stray. While they usually creep up behind players (hence the name), they can be identified by the distinctive hissing sound they make right before they detonate.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

As a moveset element

Several Creepers appear in House of Boom, heading towards the victim before exploding. Their explosions combined with the TNT laying around seems to be what causes the titular "boom". Additionally, a Creeper is seen in one of Steve's victory poses, where it explodes before Steve lands.

As a costume

The Creeper as a Mii Costume in Ultimate.

A Creeper appears in Round 7 of DLC as a paid Mii Brawler costume. To match the Mii Brawler's model, the Creeper is given a more humanoid appearance with distinct arms and legs.

Spirit

A Creeper spirit appears as part of the Minecraft DLC spirit board. Its spirit battle represents Creepers either using Mr. Game & Watch, or with Mii Brawlers in the Creeper costume if it has been purchased.

Trivia

  • There are references to Minecraft in the Creeper Costume's trailer:
    • The Creeper performs several Sacrificial KOs, referencing how Creeper's sole method of attack is to detonate in hopes of killing the player.
    • The photo of it standing next to a lightning bolt is a reference to it being struck by lightning to turn it into a charged creeper.
  • Strangely, the Creeper does not appear on Minecraft World despite being one of the most iconic mobs in Minecraft.
  • The Creeper is currently the only character represented in Smash that is known to have originated from a programming bug.
*Even tho, one of Pokemon Trainer skin, have a Ivysaur with his glitch in the original poemon games.
