Bulbasaur, known as Fushigidane (フシギダネ, Fushigidane) in Japan, is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise. Its entire evolutionary family has appeared in each Super Smash Bros. series game at least once. In Super Smash Bros., Bulbasaur's final form, Venusaur, appears as a hazard in Saffron City. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Bulbasaur appears as a trophy, and Venusaur makes another appearance as a Poké Ball Pokémon, in which it uses Earthquake to damage the summoner's opponents. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Bulbasaur appears again as a collectable trophy, and its second evolutionary form, Ivysaur, is one of the Pokémon Trainer's playable Pokémon.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

While a major Pokémon in its own right, Bulbasaur is only lightly represented in the Smash Bros. series.

As a Trophy

Bulbasaur appears as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

Bulbasaur is a cute Pokémon born with a large seed firmly affixed to its back; the seed grows in size as the Pokémon does. Along with Squirtle and Charmander, Bulbasaur is one of three Pokémon available at the beginning of Pokémon Red & Blue. It evolves first into Ivysaur and ultimately into Venusaur.

Bulbasaur also appears as a collectible trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Its description reads as follows:

A Seed Pokémon. From birth, Bulbasaur carries a large plant seed on its back. It uses the nutrients from the seed to grow bigger and bigger. Extended exposure to the sun will cause its body and seed to grow in size. Some say that once, when the seed was much lighter, Bulbasaur was able to get around on two legs. Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur.
