- In the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct, Simon, King K. Rool, Richter, Chrom, and Dark Samus are confirmed as new fighters. Various returning stages are confirmed, as well as New Donk City Hall, Dracula's Castle, and a Monster Hunter stage. Several new items, Assist Trophies, Poké Ball Pokémon, and modes were also announced.

- At EVO 2018, Lima, CaptainZack, and Nietono take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles; Leffen, Armada, and Plup take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles.

- A Super Smash Bros. Ultimate-centric Nintendo Direct is announced for August 8th at 7 AM PDT.

- At Low Tier City 6, Dabuz, Elegant, and ESAM take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles; Hungrybox, Leffen, and Armada take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles; KeroKeroppi takes 1st place in Smash 64 singles. Elegant & Samsora take Super Smash Bros. for Wii U doubles; Armada & Android take Melee doubles; Kort & Revan take Smash 64 doubles.
