Chaos Barrier
User Shadow
Universe Sonic

Chaos Barrier is Shadow's neutral special move. Upon usage, Shadow will create a forcefield around himself, which can damage opponents and reflect projectiles.

This attack will reflect any projectiles, similar to Fox's Reflector. However, unlike most other reflectors, there is a moderate amount of downtime after the move is used during which it will not reflect projectiles. This makes timing Chaos Barrier important and Shadow may be hit by projectiles if he uses it too early.

The hitbox from the forcefields will deal 9% damage. If Shadow hits the opponent with the move, it will also push them in the direction that the player is facing. This may be important to know because this way it's possible to push them in certain bad positions like off the edge or below the stage.

Origin[edit]

While Chaos Barrier is exclusive to Smash, it comes from the Chaos Powers Shadow can use. Some examples of these are the Chaos Spear, Chaos Snap, and Chaos Control. The first example of one he uses is Chaos Control and Chaos Spear, both used in Sonic Adventure 2 when fighting him as the final boss of the Hero story.
