Inkling (インクリング, Inkling) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Although the default form is female, both male and female forms of this character are playable. They were the first character suggested to appear in the then unnamed Ultimate in its first teaser trailer at the end of the March 8th, 2018 Nintendo Direct, and officially announced as a newcomer in Ultimate's E3 2018 trailer released on June 12th.
Attributes
- Some of Inkling's attacks use up and apply ink. Characters that are painted with ink take additional damage from all attacks. However, certain attacks use up some of the ink in the Ink Tank, which can be replenished by pressing "B" while using the Shield. Ink also resets when Inkling is KO'd. If Inkling's ink levels are too low, many of her moves will deal less damage and certain specials will have no effect at all.
- When the ground is inked, foes who move over it will have lessened mobility; a trait taken from the Splatoon games.
- Inkling will transform into squid form while dashing and dodging.
- Inkling can crawl.
