Using Show Preview

Hello, 1337 B33FC4K3/Archive 1, I see that you have made several consecutive edits to the same page. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep Recent Changes and page histories from being flooded. Thanks, RickTommy (talk) 20:44, 2 March 2012 (EST)

No. We only use the Smasher Template to name notable smashers in the competitive scene. Speaking of Project M, I have two questions: Is it just me, or
  1. is shine spiking really less effective in Project M?
  2. does Marth really have less range in Project M?

is shine spiking really less effective in Project M?
Not really. The Shine in PM is just as potent as it is in Melee, its just that some of Brawl's inherent "floatiness" remains so it looks like it's less effective.
does Marth really have less range in Project M?
No it's the same as it is Melee.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 00:17, 9 January 2013 (EST)

Falco VS Snake Matchup Discussion?

As I seem to be late in replying to your comment, I would like to discuss further on this matter with you as it would be great to know more users as I continue to edit here. :3

So, while seeing the past revision, it is totally true on how a CPU Falco fires in the same pattern, with absolutely no movement forward or backward. Power-shielding or crouching (with Snake) easily overcomes this minor nuisance.

Now, I do love to DACUS a lot, I will admit that. But, I use it mostly when I'm extremely close to them, and then use it, as kind of surprise attack that cannot be shielded. But, Falco does get me when I try to do it across the stage (using FD measurements) from him, with is both a horrible approach on my part and my strategy. And I haven't still adjusted to using grenades as I am already, so I'll make sure in my next match with Falco, I utilize it to my full advantage.

And Snake can KO Falco once he reaches 110% with his up aerial and side aerial at the first thrust, so all is well. Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png Doing the DACUS 08:33, 30 March 2013 (EDT)

Best way to approach Falco with Snake is to crawl under his lasers, use DACUS as a surprise to get in when Falco leaves an opening. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 13:29, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Yes OT is correct Snake can crawl through Lasers since the minimum height Falcos can fire at from a jump is the Silent Laser height which is taller than a grounded grounded laser (in Melee you could actually short hop laser lower than a grounded laser). Human Falco players will often fire in the same Short Hop double laser pattern too except they will move forward or back trying laser. As for KOing Falco, using aerials would be my first choice since Snake's aerials are kinda meh. Your best KO move is Snake's up tilt. Use that. --BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 15:09, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Okay, true, this is why I definitely love to crouch with Snake. And Snake's air game is amazing (in my opinion), it just...that forward aerial...But, the up tilt is still just as effective. But, now, I have to make sure not to get chain-grabbed at low percentages, but that'll be easy. Thanks again for the tip. Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png Doing the DACUS 15:23, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Snake's aerials are powerful yes, but it is inadvisable to use them out of a short hop which is why they aren't Snake's strong point. Snake's ground game is his primary strength and you should always remember that. As for the chain grab, just keep yourself surrounded by nades, land mines and C4s. That will make Falco think twice before trying to grab you. Not only do all 3 break the chain grab and give Falco damage they also put percentage on you meaning Falcos can't chain grab as much if they grab you again.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 15:44, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Yeah, his ground will always be effective, I mean, like, doing a neutral aerial by just walking off the stage gives little time for me to pull out the Cypher without crossing the lower blast line (FD, of course). And, well, that is true, I mean, CPU's always roll when a land mine is deployed. It always just brings out their flaw. Thanks for that tip, maybe next time they will tremble in my presence...--Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png Doing the DACUS 15:58, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
I would advise against going offstage so liberally with nair and cypher. Offstage is meant to be a worse position than on stage which is where Snake should be most of the time. If you're against MK it is suicide to go offstage no matter what. It's brawl where no one except MK can edgeguard so against anyone else you have a good chance to get back but most of the time you will come back sustaining heavy damage as you will be forced to use C4s to recover since people will hit you out of cypher easily. Like I said before Snake's ground game is his strong point so naturally you should stay there.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 17:36, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Well, true, the reason I even go offstage is to KO them with either the nair or fair and combine both the double jump and cypher for a boost back to the stage will also sending the opponent off as to perform a neutral attack at the edge for a near to always KO or to perform again another fair or nair and repeat. MK always stands at the edge and once I deploy the Cypher, he does a down aerial or something that nearly always results in a KO if I don't properly momentum-cancel and DI out of it fast enough. Grenades are still the hard part for me to get used to, as I don't know when to shield it, hard throw it, normally throw it, or up throw it. -- Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png 19:22, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Trying to edgeguard a MK is one of the riskiest things you could ever do especially with a very easily gimpable recvoery like Snake's. In fact it is so risky I would recommending only doing it if you're another MK. You're probably better off letting MK come back to the stage and punishing his landing for the KO. MK edgeguard styles vary between players, but they are all very deadly. Practicing "edgeguarding" a CPU MK doesn't help the slightest either because they can't exploit MK's offstage game like a real player can.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 19:27, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Toatlly true, and real MK players will exploit the grab release glitch which could be near hard to recover from. And I heard, too, that MK is near to impossible to even edgeguard, to due all of his viable aerials which will help him recover from anything. HE is what I sometimes get concerned with in the game. Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png 19:42, 30 March 2013 (EDT)

"It's brawl where no one except MK can edgeguard"

Now Brian, if you're going to give Brawl advice, don't be so clearly biased towards Melee and say stuff that is false. Just because fatal edgeguarding doesn't occur as often as it does in Melee doesn't mean it's a nonexistent factor.

And Airconny, Snake's aerial game is best used complimenting his ground game, watch Ally to see how to utilise Snake's aerial game. Also, bair is Snake's best edgeguard option, you should be using that instead of nair as your goto edgeguard. Additionally, players of any character will exploit the grab release glitch on Snake's Cypher, as such, you will almost always want to recover high with Snake, and never recover low against the stage (which also leaves Snake heavily vulnerable to other edgeguarding attacks). Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 21:05, 30 March 2013 (EDT)

His bair is by far his best, too. And Ally? Just saw one of his matches against Renegade (Ike), and he utilizes grenades with near perfect timing, it's incredible...And I also noticed how he barely left the main stage at all, and only did if he was knocked back there or was trying to KO him with an aerial. And what about Snake's d-air, isn't that also good for some horizontal knockback? And I will make sure to stay onto the stage, I know about that glitch and I don't want to use my C4 to get myself back onto stage and not get KOed by other edgeguarding techniques (such as Marth's forward smash or his down aerial). Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png 22:07, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
You should watch plenty of Ally matches. And Snake's dair is extremely powerful. However, it has very high ending lag, rather small hitboxes, and it's relatively easy to SDI out of it before the last hit comes out. It can only be used as a situational killer to get a really early kill with a good read, you can't rely on it. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 22:16, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Definitely, he is an amazing Snake user, that's for sure. Yeah, the dair is very easy to SDI out or shield it, but when surprised, it is an extremely efficient KO done. And for a final one, what about his Up Smash? Is it just as effective to use it as an edgeguard for when opponents are trying to recover? I recently used it on a Level 9 KD, and man, was it good. But, I'm not entirely sure it will always work, as I know human players will air dodge it or attack the missile. Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png 22:32, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
U-smash works well for edgeguarding, since it covers the distance above you and can then cover the ledge, while not being that laggy. Its base knockback is also really high, so if DI'd horizontally, it can get really early KOs. While opponents can air dodge, that will often leave with an opening to nair/bair/uair them. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 22:42, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
Ah, okay, as I was watching another Snake user use that, and thought it was pretty effective and useful, and it does work for everything. -- Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png 08:44, 31 March 2013 (EDT)
Be wary that certain aerials beat Snake's up smash (like Dedede's bair) so if you try an aerial to follow up you will actually be at a disadvantage.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 16:18, 31 March 2013 (EDT)
Ya, after seeing some of Ally's videos, grenades seem to be a strong point in Snake's arsenal, as it can both inflict damage to the opponent if in a close radius. And I know about some of the other aerials beating Snake's aerials, and it was the hard way most of the time...-- Airconny Airconny Snake Sig.png 16:30, 31 March 2013 (EDT)

Falco vs Peach (SSBM)

Hello, this is probably my worst matchup as Falco, what do think the best things I can do are? Mostly I attempt to spike her a lot, but her floatcancels really screw me up when I'm in the air. The main problem I have is that I really find it hard to KO her. I can't do much offstage and her f-throw puts me in a really bad position. I could just use Jiggs for this matchup but what advice do you have for using Falco? Scr7Wolfsig.png 12:02, 24 June 2013 (EDT)
