Wobbuffet (ソーナンス, Sōnansu, Sonans in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Creature description

Wobbuffet resembles a punching bag. It has for small legs that helps it stand. Wobbuffet's whole body is blue. Wobbuffet's arms are usually at it's side but when summoned they make a salute gesture when it says its name. The eyes of Wobbuffet are cross-eyed and it's mouth resembles a grimace. The most notable feature of Wobbuffet is it's black tail on the back of it's body. The black tail has two eyes on it but has nothing to do with Wobbuffet in the game.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Wobbuffet appears as a Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. Melee only. Wobbuffet uses Counter as it's attack. Wobbuffet rocks back and forth when the player attack it or hit it with an item. Any character that makes contact with Wobbuffet's counter will take damage. The power of Wobbuffet's counter attack varies. If Wobbuffet is hit with a weak attack, it won't wobble a lot. If Wobbuffet is hit with a strong attack, counter will then cause more damage. Wobbuffet will also wobble if it is hit by an item. Wobbuffet will wobble more intensly if hit with a powerful item. A character will take more damage if they are hit with a faster wobbling Wobbuffet. Also, characters can get trapped in a Wobbuffet's counter if it is not too powerful. Wobbuffet's attack harms both opponents and the summoner.

In the event match Legendary Pokémon, Wobbuffet is the only common Pokémon that will come out of Poké Balls. Wobbuffet's appearance as a common Pokémon in this event match is to discourage other characters from expecting a powerful legendary Pokémon. However, Wobbuffet can be useful in this event match. If Wobbuffet is hit with a powerful attack from a legendary Pokémon then it will start to wobble intensly. Characters that have a high damage percentage have the possibility of dying. The Wire Frames will have a hard time to try and avoid Wobbuffet's counter in this event match.

As a stage element

A giant balloon of Wobbuffet (in actuality the 3D model of Geodude used in Pokémon Stadium 2 for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage. It appears from the side horizontally and jerkily.

As a trophy

Wobbuffet features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:

Wobbuffet returns with possibly the same method of batting strategy just using Mirror Coat.
