Subspace is a destructive force used as a weapon by the Subspace Army in SSBB. When unleashed, it creates what seems to be an antimatter hole. Tabuu receives what has been taken from the world and uses it to make The Great Maze.
This is different from the Subspace of Super Mario Bros. 2.
