The Trowlon (ファウロン, Faulong), incorrectly called Trolow in Prima's Guide, is an enemy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary mode and first appears in the Forest level. Trowlons are characterized by a distinct whooshing sound whenever one is about to appear. It lifts the player and flies away to the top of the screen with the player, in an attempt to KO above the upper blast line. It may also attack the player with its beak to force the player on; if the hit is not teched on the Trowlon's back the delay in getting up may result in being carried away. Hitting it will make it fall down, dazed for a limited time. If on the Trowlon, the player can usually perform a down smash or down tilt to defeat one, but the part of the body right behind the Trowlon is raised and can be hit by forward attacks.

Name origin

Trowlon's name is a combination of the words trowl, describing its disruptive act of shoveling characters onto its back and flying upwards in a fashion similar to a fish being caught with a hook and brought to the surface, and on.

Trophy description

Trowlon - Brawl Trophy.png

An enemy that, despite a mechanized look, is made up of a soft, specialized material that allows for smooth, undulating movement and flight. A Trowlon will not attack directly but will instead slip under the player and suddenly ascend. It will try to put players on its back and carry them off the screen.

Trivia

  • The surface of a Trowlon uses a unique terrain type that makes Purple Pikmin twice as rare. No other terrain has the same effect.
