Forum:Www.smashwiki.com
So, the rights to the domain name www.smashwiki.com have expired. GoDaddy is the holder and seller of those rights, but at the present, it is in a window where the old owner can renew it before it goes up. I am going to make a thread about this on SmashBoards, as I believe they (or an individual there) held the rights before the merge (and during this time where it redirected). In the meantime, is keeping the domain-name www.smashwiki.com important to everyone? I believe that we should try to keep it as many people still know it by that domain name. If we don't keep it, it's not terrible, as a Google search on SmashWiki still give the primary domain name, as does the link at the top of SmashBoards. That said, many old links will go out of date, and we become harder to find to someone who just hears of SmashWiki and tries that. Should we have to renew it ourselves, it is going to be between $10-$15 a year... Any thoughts? Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 14:36, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I noticed the domain expired today (the link in my Favourites apparently went there). But I can't really think of that much of an upside to having a redirecting domain. If someone tries "www.smashwiki.com" and it doesn't work, the next thing they'll do is put it in Google, almost for certain. Toomai Glittershine The Stats Guy 14:47, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
- I belive you should keep the domain name, as any new users who want to talk about SSB4 in the future are bound to look for this, and if the link is dead, they'll never find it.--MegaTron1XD 14:52, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
- I'd love to keep the domain-name, but I'd rather not be the only one forking out the money. I guess we could make a PayPal account and ask for donations... Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 17:39, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
