From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.
The Rules
- When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature.
- You can vote only once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
- Put a
#
before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
- Type
~~~~
after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
- There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
- Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
- You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
- You may vote only in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
- Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
- While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing
|}
). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and take effect only when the entire round is viewed.
- If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
- Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
- Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
- Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things such as "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already rather long page.
If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.
Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.
Above all, remember that voting in the Smash Arena is a privilege, not a right. In the vein of what SmashWiki is not, you are expected to at least attempt reasonable contributions to the wiki if you wish to retain your privilege to participate.
Votes for Flat Zone
- Flat Zone 2 was a bitch, especially with the blast lines. And even though I haven't played Melee, it looks like it has a better layout.-- PSIWolf The one and only! 10:35, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
- This stage doesn't change often unlike Flat Zone 2. Dots The Doom 10:38, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
Round 161: Roy vs. Ike
|
Winner!! Ike
18 to 22
A matchup between a character and the character who supposedly replaced him that ended in a tie? You know that'll get a rematch someday, and here it is! Will one of the two spiky-haired swordsman get an edge this time around?
- Go Roy! 67.173.145.76 02:44, 2 November 2012 (EDT)
- "Roy's our boy!!" This was a very difficult match for me to decide... T_T As much I am inherently linked with Ike, his awesomeness is trumped by the one swordsman that introduced one of the coolest techniques ever to me: The peerless, OHKO-ing Flare Blade. Both fiery swordsmen are cool; had lots of fun playing as Roy in SSB Melee and Ike in SSB Brawl; hopefully, both of them triumphantly return in SSB4. Fenyx4 (talk) 17:22, 2 November 2012 (EDT)
- Well, he is my best character in Melee. RickTommy 00:24, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
Votes for Ike
- Ike's Final Smash is awesome and He has strong attacks Boxman992 (talk) 15:30, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- Ike's moveset is better, stronger and looks great too! SuperBowser (talk) 2:40, 28 October 2012 (IST)
- Note to self: make up better reasons than Brawl > Melee. 24.168.104.230 17:38, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- I like the Tellius storyline in Fire Emblem, so Ike gets my vote. Naked Snake 19:13, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- Lemme tell ya somethin': it is a pain to KO with Roy without using the same reliable finisher every time. Now with Ike, he may be hindered a great deal with painfully slow attack speed, but his attacks beat the banjos out of Roy's arensal, I'll tell you what. 71.199.133.103 20:23, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- So, so, so, so many reasons why I choose him. Also, I hate Fire Emblem! Supersmash4 (talk) 21:07, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- Ike says: "GREAT AETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and Roy says: Nothing cool whatsoever. Nintendosega75 (talk) 21:09, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- Ike, in my opinion, seems to be the strongest character in the game. Smash Master 21:43, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- Because I can do this--BrianDon't try me! 06:08, 28 October 2012 (EDT)
- Ike is one of my favourite characters, both in Smash Bros. and Fire Emblem. 110.174.90.69 09:09, 28 October 2012 (EDT)
- Ike has some actual useable aerial attacks, and doesn't just have two moves to kill with. He simply is a better character with a much better moveset who is also not an inferior clone. Omega Tyrant 09:31, 28 October 2012 (EDT)
- He has no sypathy for vandels.The Cheese 22:15, 28 October 2012 (EDT)
- I think Omega Tyrant-sama said it best. Hawk 21Talk 08:37, 29 October 2012 (EDT)
Black text on a blue background is almost as bad as black text on a navy background... Air Conditioner has a long signature 17:01, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- I agree I could barely see the votes at all on my iPad. Terrible is Halloween 17:49, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- XD "Let me tell ya somethin'" LightningBlue 21:58, 27 October 2012 (EDT)
- It is as bad as having to highlight just to read my own username. F1reBurn1ng (talk) 23:03, 29 October 2012 (EDT)
- I lightened the background. If Toomai objects, he can change it back. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 00:12, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
- Wrong, you made it darker. And yes I did change it back because this blue has been used many times in the past with few if any complaints, and it will continue to be used in the future. Toomai Glittershine The Metroid 10:32, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
This was ShupaRoeh's suggestion. Why didn't my suggestion make it? The Awesome 11:07, 29 October 2012 (EDT)
- Because either it wasn't as good, people opposed it, or Toomai didn't like it. Air Conditioner OH GOD A HURRICANE 11:16, 29 October 2012 (EDT)
- How do you know your suggestion's not in the queue? Toomai Glittershine The Free 12:41, 29 October 2012 (EDT)
