Palkia(パルキア,Parukia) is a legendary Pokémon.

Creature description

Palkia is a massive, complexly-built bipedal dragon-like entity with wings that can open up. In Sinnoh-region lore provided in part by the Pokédex, it was said to be created by Arceus along with Dialga, at which time space began to take form and matter began to take shape. It is also said that space becomes more stable with Palkia's every breath. Palkia represents spatial dimensions whereas Dialga represents time.

Its signature move is Spacial Rend. It can only be found in Pokemon Pearl version, which is a part of the fourth-generation Pokémon games. It is part of the Legendary Dragon trio, along with Dialga and Giratina.

In 'Super Smash Bros. Brawl'

Palkia appears as a stage Pokémon and a hazard alongside Dialga, on the Spear Pillar stage. Palkia appears whenever Spear Pillar has a purple hue.

Abilities used

  • Collapsing one of the three sections of the floor (left, middle, or right)
  • Creating a powerful beam over a portion of the stage vertically, or horizontally through the lower section of the stage
  • Rotating the stage 180 degrees
  • Flipping the stage sideways, like a mirror-image
  • Decreasing gravity, making the characters jump higher and fall slower

Trophy Description

A Spatial Pokémon. In the Sinnoh region, this Pokémon has been revered for many generations, much like Dialga. Dialga warps time, but Palkia has control over space. It lives between parallel dimensions and is known for its power, rumored to be able to warp space. It can use Spatial Rend to rip through the very space an enemy resides in, damaging the foe at the same time.

Trivia

  • Palkia's sound file in the Anime is a mesh between the Varactyl from Star Wars and the DaiKaiju Godzilla and King Ghidorah but in Brawl Godzilla's roar and the Varactyl is only heard.
