Trivia

  • The hats seen on the banner are Cappy, Mario's builder hard hat, the hat from Link's champion's tunic, Samus' helmet, Luigi's hat, Ness' baseball cap, Captain Falcon's helmet, Wario's hat, Leaf's bucket hat, Diddy Kong's snapback, King Dedede's cap, Mega Man's helmet, Terry's snapback, and Min Min's beanie.
  • Ice Climbers, Sheik, Young Link, Olimar and Toon Link do not have their headwear present on the banner despite being available in the tourney.
  • While the Pokémon Trainer wears a hat, the Pokémon do not, making them the only fighters in this tourney not to wear any headwear.
  • The tourney is seemingly limited to headwear that completely covers the head. Because of this, several fighters with headwear such as crowns, bandanas, and wreaths are excluded from the tourney.
  • Similarly, only fighters with headwear in all of their alternate costumes are available. Because of this, Link, Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pichu, Little Mac, Inkling, Hero, and Steve are excluded from the tourney.
    • Despite this, Link's hat from his Hero of the Wild alternate costume is featured in the tourney's banner.
  • Дело в шляпе, the Russian name for this event, is a pun. It can also be translated as "It's in the hat!"
    • Similarly, Op je hoede, the Dutch name for this event, is a pun as well, as the word "hoede" includes the word "hoed", which is Dutch for "hat".
