An Auroros (アロアロス, Aroaros) is a bird-like enemy in The Subspace Emissary which first appears in The Lake level. It usually hovers in one spot until the player comes into range, after which it dives from the sky, jabbing its beak into the ground. Its attack is unpredictable, very swift and powerful, enough to OHKO on higher difficulties. Once it is stuck in the ground, it cannot attack, and it can be pulled out by pressing the attack button and used as a thrown item with very high knockback. It works like a spear or a javelin, and can defeat several enemies in a single hit at 0%, potentially being an OHKO. After being thrown in this manner, the Auroros is defeated.

On higher difficulties, Auroros cannot be thrown as far before being destroyed. This makes it more difficult (or impossible on Intense difficulty) to hit enemies with the throw.

Name origin

Auroros' name is based on the word aurora, describing the vibrant colors around its feathers.

Trophy description

The Auroros trophy in Brawl.

A unique enemy characterized by a long beak and rainbow-patterned wings and tail. Like most birds, the Auroros flies through the sky. Once one has you in its sights, it will dive in for the attack. Since it has a sharp beak, dodging its attack will leave it stuck firmly in the ground. Fortunately, you can pull it out of the ground and throw it like a javelin.
