- A Nintendo Direct has been announced, premiering at 3:00 PM PST on July 16th, 2020. It has been confirmed that the first challenger pack of the second Fighter Pass will be revealed in the Direct.

- At The Quarantine Series: Europe Edition!, OwlBBs, Loading..., and RobinGG take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Ultimate singles.

- In acknowledgement and out of respect for the killing of George Floyd and the riots and protests that followed, Nintendo has postponed the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Open May 2020 to a later date in the future.
