The Hero Draws Near!
—Introduction Tagline

The Hero is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was announced during the E3 Nintendo Direct on June 11th, 2019 as the third DLC character and is the second downloadable character for the Fighters Pass. The Hero is classified as fighter #72. The Hero's default costume is the Luminary from Dragon Quest XI, but has skins based on Erdrick from Dragon Quest III, the hero from Dragon Quest VIII, and the male hero from Dragon Quest IV.

Known moveset

  • The Hero appears to have multiple spells for special moves:
    • Frizz, a fire projectile, which can be charged to become larger and stronger.
    • Woosh, a tornado storm that fires the Hero upward. Likely his up special move.
    • Zap, an electric shock.
  • In addition, the Hero can use the Magic Point (MP) system to use other spells:
    • Snooze, a large blurry projectile that puts opponents to sleep.
    • Bounce, an active reflector.
    • Kacrackle Slash, which appears to give the Hero a freeze effect on certain moves.
    • Kaclang, which freezes the Hero in place while making him metal and immune to knockback.
    • Zoom, an upward leap. Another form of recovery.
    • Kamikazee, an explosion that deals immense knockback but instantly KO's the Hero.
    • Psyche Up
    • Sizzle
    • Oomph
  • The Hero's shield will block projectiles, just like Link.
  • A shield bash followed by a downward slash. Likely a two-part forward tilt.
  • A jumping slash dash attack, similar to Link's.
  • An upward arching slash, similar to Toon Link's up smash.
