Mario's sex kick in Brawl

Sex kick is a slang term for an aerial attack that remains extended for a few moments after the initial thrust. The term was coined by Matt Deezie. The signature aspect of a sex kick is that it is stronger during the initial extension and weaker afterwards, although Dr. Mario's sex kick reverses this trend. In Brawl, this initial hit can connect for only the first frame of the attack. Other typical attributes of a sex kick include low startup time and low landing lag.

The term "sex kick" originally referred to a type of kick, where the attacker thrust one leg straight out to the side with the other leg folded underneath the body. This type of kick is still very common in the Smash Bros. series. These kicks would be left out for a short period and were stronger during the start of the animation, which is where the current definition was derived. This kind of sex kick is almost always a neutral aerial.

Although sex kick classically refers to only neutral aerials, smashers often extend its usage to other aerial attacks with similar properties, such as Fox's back aerial in Melee.

These characters have a sex kick:

Almost every character has one sex kick, which is usually their Neutral aerial; the two exceptions are Donkey Kong, whose sex kick is his Back aerial, and Fox, whose Neutral aerial and Back aerial are both sex kicks (making him the only character with two).
