Aesthetics
- As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Lucario's model features a more subdued color scheme. Its fur is more detailed, similar to Brawl.
- The visual effects of Lucario's Aura are much smoother, and are now cyan in color instead of indigo.
- Aura Sphere now has an "energy absorption" visual effect when charging, though it is unknown if this will add gameplay changes. It also now resembles the move as it appeared in Pokémon Battle Revolution and the 3DS Pokémon games, and no longer emits a trail of smoke when thrown.
Ground Moves
- Forward smash has longer range.
- Forward smash has bigger and more vibrant aura effects.
Aerial Attacks
- Up Aerial has an altered animation, with Lucario backflipping following the initial kick.
Special moves
- Aura Sphere has less ending lag.
- Aura Sphere is now visually closer to how it appears in the anime and movies.
- Double Team's counterattack activates faster.
- Like all transformation Final Smashes, Lucario's will be replaced, but its new Final Smash has yet to be revealed.
