Lucario (SSBU)

Lucario (ルカリオ, Lucario) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It was confirmed as a playable character on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

An icon used in notice templates. NOTE: SmashWiki is not speculative. Please refrain from adding detailed data values derived from pre-release gameplay footage, such as the E3 demo. Such data (damage values, launch trajectories, frame data, etc.) are subject to change before the official release.

Aesthetics

  • Change As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Lucario's model features a more subdued color scheme. Its fur is more detailed, similar to Brawl.
  • Change The visual effects of Lucario's Aura are much smoother, and are now cyan in color instead of indigo.
  • Change Aura Sphere now has an "energy absorption" visual effect when charging, though it is unknown if this will add gameplay changes. It also now resembles the move as it appeared in Pokémon Battle Revolution and the 3DS Pokémon games, and no longer emits a trail of smoke when thrown.

Ground Moves

  • Buff Forward smash has longer range.
  • Change Forward smash has bigger and more vibrant aura effects.

Aerial Attacks

  • Change Up Aerial has an altered animation, with Lucario backflipping following the initial kick.

Special moves

  • Buff Aura Sphere has less ending lag.
  • Change Aura Sphere is now visually closer to how it appears in the anime and movies.
  • Buff Double Team's counterattack activates faster.
  • Change Like all transformation Final Smashes, Lucario's will be replaced, but its new Final Smash has yet to be revealed.

Trivia

  • Lucario, Mewtwo, Greninja and Jigglypuff are the only Pokémon characters that were not showcased during the Fighter Changes portion of the E3 Direct.
