Cape

Have we even seen his cape yet in Brawl=??? Besides, look what happened to his old B down [Mario Tornado], in which FLUDD is now his down B [or at least his ground down B]. I'm going to wait to edit it off, but it is not confirmed, or even shown from what I can remeber. Johnknight1 11:46 7 October 2007 (PCT)

Also, I just edited the thing that said his old down B is "seemingly his down Air." with "but is currently unknown which attack it is." Anyone agree with my change=??? Johnknight1 11:48 7 October 2007 (PCT)
That observation about the Mario Tornado was made after looking at a few screenshots on the Dojo which seem to imply that his new down aerial is, indeed, the MT, so I believe that edit should be reverted.

I have no idea if the Cape has been seen yet, but if not, that should obviously be removed. Same for the Super Jump Punch. - EPX2 14:56, October 7, 2007 (EDT)
The Cape and Super Jump Punch HAVE been seen. You can see Mario using his cape in one of the first two trailers, and he very clearly uses the Super Jump Punch in the "You must recover!" update. -Thores 16:28, October 7, 2007 (EDT)
Just checked for myself. He uses the cape at precisely 0:11 in the Nintendo World trailer. -Thores 16:32, October 7, 2007 (EDT)
The Cape is confirmed now. Anyways, we need to make it to where for his down B in air is his Mario Tornado, as it is confirmed by many SmashBoards members. If anyone could do that, it would be appreciated. Johnknight1 15:29, October 20, 2007 (EDT)

Video

Who put that video up? and took off the moveset list? Why would they do that. It'd be easier if they put like an External Link at the bottom showing the video, but not just flat-out replacing the list with a video. Dorsha 00:02, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Stutter step

What the heck is stutter stepping? It lists one of Mario's pros as "Can Stutter Step" I looked it up, nothing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxiscool (talkcontribs) 20:26, 16 May 2008 (UTCC)

I'm removing it. It's very vague, if not vandalism. Gargomon251 16:54, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I just found out what it is, it's something where some characters get extra range to their forward smash if they smash in the opposite direction. I think only Ganondorf, Captain Falcon, Mario, and Sonic can do it.

Recruiting

OK all who are willing. I need lots of help. I need all the moveset to look all alike. I need people willing to help! If you choose to accept this challenge, use Meta Knight's moveset as a perfect example. If you want to help the cause, leave your username under the category on my userpage called "Recruiting". This message is also there. Let's fix these movesets. --Oxico (talk) 20:49, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

New Setup!

I tried to put in the new set-up (attributes, not pros and cons). I hope I did good, I'm not really sure. If you don't like how i put it, just edit it, don't put it back to the other way, please! Smorekingxg456 (talk) 21:47, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I corrected your spelling errors, Smoreking, but other than that, it looks pretty good. MarioGalaxy {talk} 21:50, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I used WordPerfect and their spell check kind of sucks...Smorekingxg456 (talk) 21:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Tier List

Why is Mario so Low on the list? --Riko (talk) 21:33, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

I thinks it is because of his tourney results and bad match-ups. Mario players haven't won a single tournament yet. But perhaps as the competitive scene develops, Mario can make it higher. Xeze (talk) 21:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm very upset about this. If he's supposed to be a well-balanced character, then why the heck is he the lowest rated "Mario" character? It makes no freakin' sense. Even though I haven't played the game, I still think this is ludicrious. Balance of mind, my butt. --Whackeyeye5 09:51, August 1, 2010 (UTC) --User was temp banned for this post

Mario's other taunt!

Apparently, Mario had another taunt made but they didn't put it.

This taunt can be seen in the Sonic Trailer where both Mario and Sonic both perform taunts.

Proof at 0:45 -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3-HMoqZgzU

Take note that this taunt was one of Mario's Victory poses and character selection in Smash Smash Brothers and might have appeared in the other games as well.

Much like the previous part where he flies off DURING his down taunt, this was probably never intended to be a normal taunt, and was just taken solely from his victory pose. - Gargomon251 (talk) 19:57, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Alternetive costumes

Just wanted to say that it could be mentioned in the Trivia-Section, that his second costume resembles the typical Fire-Mario, third = Jumpman (from the early Donkey Kong Arcade games), fourth = Wario (duh), fifth = COULD resemble the grey-white design from Super Mario Land (Game Boy), and the last/sixth one ...well I'm not sure but I think I remember that Luigi had a similar color design on one of the older games. hmm...

Rarely Smiles

I've been thinking about this for some time; does anybody have an idea about why Mario looks so serious in the Smash series (especially in Melee and Brawl), despite being so jolly in his own games? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yagomus (talkcontribs)

That's the weird thing about the Marioverse in the Smash Bros. series. Most of the Marioverse stuff is a lot more realistic compared to their original counterparts: the denim texture on Mario's jeans, the design of Peach's dress, the roars of Bowser and DK. I'm guessing Mario's "game face" is part of this anomaly. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic 16:41, September 6, 2009 (UTC)

Body Parts grow Giant

Am I the only One who notices MOST CHARACTERS, notibily mario, Arms, Leg etc. grow giant when they attack. to discuss this go to Talk:Super Landmaster --Super Landmaster (talk) 20:40, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

Tabs

Pages like this should stay, but, I think we should make a tab section on the actual Mario page. Fot those of you reading this who don't know what a tab is it is this:

<tabview> Mario (SSB) Mario (SSBM) Mario (SSBB) </tabview>

Although, doing it would reqire some editing to other pages. Zordon123456789mlw7 (talk) 22:22, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

An interesting idea, to be sure. But it seems kind of unnecessary: at the top of the general character pages are links to their Smash Bros.-related pages, and either way users are going to have to click on a link and load the latter page. Also, there is a big problem with the tabview system (the one you demonstrated, anyway) - once you open a tab, it cannot be closed, making the original page hard to read (and difficult to distinguish the two pages). Unless I'm missing some sort of significant benefit to duplicating pages on other pages, the idea seems useless. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 22:32, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Voice actor

Does Mario really have a different voice actor or is it the same one as Melee and the original? Doc King

its the same one Charles Martinet

Stock icon

We can use it somehow, but the current setup is just plain unpleasant to look at. Miles (talk) 13:03, 14 December 2010 (EST)

It looks alright, though sorta out of place. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 13:08, 14 December 2010 (EST)
Maybe if it was shrunk a bit? Or moved down to beside/below/above the universe icon? Maybe even its own row, but that seems a bit much. Toomai Glittershine ??? 13:18, 14 December 2010 (EST)

Did some playing around there. How about this? - Reboot (talk) 15:32, 16 December 2010 (EST)

Doesn't look too bad, but having the SSBB icons overstep the borders may look weird alongside the smaller SSB and SSBM ones. Plus I don't really like overstepping borders in general. Toomai Glittershine ??? 15:39, 16 December 2010 (EST)

Mario's flaws

In Melee when Mario lacks a reliable finishers, I noticed he still lacks a reliable finishers in Brawl. Did Mario still inherits problems from his Melee incarnation? Luigi540 (talk) 18:02, 20 December 2011 (EST)

Pretty much. Mario's only reliable finishers are his smashes. In fact, in my power research project, Mario's smashes are his only attacks that reach terminal knockback (6200) under 150%. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 18:25, 20 December 2011 (EST)

Mario pros

We need to find at least one more Mario pro other than Boss. --TheLegendaryKRB (talk) 18:20, 24 February 2014 (EST)

Trophy description

I don't know which talk page to put this on so I'll use Mario's: Do trophy descriptions really need to be on fighter pages? This page describes his playable appearance in a game, whereas the Mario page describes his appearances in the Smash series. Qwerty (talk) 14:33, 15 August 2014 (EDT)
