Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature. Long explanations for your vote are discouraged, as they are unnecessary (a vote is worth the same regardless of its reasoning), and they inflate the size of an already large page.
  2. You can vote only once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to follow this rule; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may vote only in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and take effect only when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things such as "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already large page.
      • Similarly, avoid writing votes that may invite an argument. Stating your opinion is fine, but don't make it easy for others to see it as goading.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Users should not fix such broken votes without making them half-votes. Your vote will also be considered a half-vote if your edit causes someone else's valid vote to break one of these rules. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Multiple votes are not allowed; attempts to circumvent this with sockpuppets will result in your vote being discounted entirely, and is a blockable offense. Probated users who attempt to circumvent their probation with sockpuppets are also committing a blockable offense and will have their vote discounted. Remember that admins have access to CheckUser to check the IPs of any user, and will use it when sockpuppetry is suspected.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.

Above all, remember that voting in the Smash Arena is a privilege, not a right. In the vein of what SmashWiki is not, you are expected to at least attempt reasonable contributions to the wiki if you wish to retain your privilege to participate.

Round 202: Dream Land vs. Green Greens

DreamLandSSB.png
Winner!!
undecided

~ to ~
Greengreens.jpg
The home arena of Whispy Woods in each game so far. Does the simpler stage or varied vista triumph?

Votes for Dream Land

  1. Dream Land is by far my favorite stage in Super Smash Bros. 64 as well as having my favorite music of all of the Smash Bros. games, Gourmet Race. Green Greens is my least favorite stage in Melee and Brawl, *mumbles because of those stupid bomb blocks. :P Dots MewtwoMS.png The Silent 00:21, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  2. WELL?!?!?!?!?!?!?! DoctorPain99 00:40, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  3. OMEGATYRANT?!?! Conny Airconny Snake Sig.png 00:41, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  4. The only decent stage in the game. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 01:20, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  5. Dream Land of course. Has been since the first Smash Bros. game, contains a great and quite memetic music, and there aren't blocks stopping your KOs every time. Crazymasterhand98MasterhandSSB64.jpg
  6. I like playing on this stage in both SSB64 and Melee, and it has awesome music too. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 03:44, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  7. I like this stage better. Boo BuddyHaunter MS.png 05:01, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  8. Gourmet Race, that's all that needs to be said. 31.53.220.108 07:23, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  9. Love the music37.106.45.76 13:19, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  10. I usually like a lot of the banned stages. Green Greens, though, is just annoying with all the bomb blocks getting in the way, and I like the simplicity of Dream Land 64. Every time I start Brawl modifications again I make sure to replace Green Greens with Dream Land, in fact. --Timson622222 (talk) 00:32, 1 September 2013 (EDT)

Votes for Green Greens

  1. More hilarity ensures here. --HavocReaper48 00:21, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  2. Pity vote. 75.156.151.217 01:55, 31 August 2013 (EDT)

  5. I like stages full of stage hazards, and Dream Land is the oposite of that.Tepig (talk) 19:10, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  6. Green Greens is my fourth-favourite stage in Smash history. The top three, in no particular order, are Delfino Plaza, Great Bay and Skyloft. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatum 22:07, 31 August 2013 (EDT)
  7. Best Kirby stage in Melee, best Melee stage in Brawl. It really doesn't get any better than exploding blocks, does it? CrouchingEtown (talk) 01:58, 1 September 2013 (EDT)
  8. I love both, but this one has more memories. Ahh...memories. 75.121.132.213 12:03 1 September 2013

Round 201: Pikachu (SSB) vs. Meta Knight (SSBB)

Winner!!
Pikachu (SSB)

19 to 10.5
Meta Knight SSBB.jpg
They dominate their respective metagames with no disadvantageous matchups - how do they fare against each other?

Votes for Pikachu (SSB)

  1. Isai is too good. Scr7Wolfsig.png =D 12:57, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  2. Just as Scr7 said. Also, he isn't banned. It's also much harder to be an annoying Pikachu in SSB64 than an annoying MK in Brawl, IMO. DarkFox01DF01Sig.pngpromoteS uSage of thiS template 13:22, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  3. Pikachu does not have a frame 2 trancendent moveset, so I'll vote for him. Boo BuddyHaunter MS.png 13:28, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  4. Smash 64 is teh dumbz, but I think that MK is more broken than Pikachu. In practice, MK has no even match-ups (screw ESAM), and is more ubiquitous in tournament results than Pikachu. DoctorPain99 14:00, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  5. I wantz teh Snakez onle, but, this will do. Conny Airconny Snake Sig.png 14:10, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  6. Fat Pikachu was awesome back then. I don't like how it got thinner throughout the years. Dots MewtwoMS.png The Silent 14:23, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  7. Cute. 75.156.151.217 16:02, 24 August 2013 (EDT)

  12. Pika Punch. And also, Pikachu in the original anime was SO CUTE. 75.131.76.175 07:51, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
  13. I LOVE Pikachu!!!! I searched for hours in the woods on Pokemon blue for this cutie! 75.121.214 25 August 2013 11:39
  14. One of my favorite fictional characters, my main, the only character that is currently considered even against Meta Knight. Yup, all of those are more than enough to have me vote for Pikachu.71.105.121.171 11:50, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
  15. Because he's from Pokémon, the most liked, and because he's my main, gives me many reasons to vote for him. Superstarxalien169's smashbox. (talk) 13:05, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
  16. I'm better with Pikachu in Brawl than Meta Knight. Why is Meta Knight top tier? So overrated? SeanWheeler (talk) 11:19, 26 August 2013 (EDT)
  17. Because I love Pokémon. ChuckNorris24.png 18:36, 26 August 2013 (EDT)
  18. Pokémon is far better than Kirby and Pikachu is better than Meta Knight94.97.252.251 08:03, 27 August 2013 (EDT)
  19. Pikachu is AWESOME, and at least he wasn't banned.--LavaKirby 17:06, 28 August 2013 (EDT)

Votes for Meta Knight (SSBB)

  1. my cousin likes him Ja (talk) 14:51, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  2. He's so boss, he's banned. Terrible is Terrible 18:19, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  3. Eh, I never owned the original, therefore it'd be lying if I said I liked the original Pikachu more. And Meta Knight is broken, but he's still a fighter. And I like playing around with him sometimes, despite not being my main. So if I get the original I'll probably like Pikachu more, but for now, I'll vote for the under-dog. WashiWashi signature.png 23:07, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  4. Medda K'Night has his own custom victory theme, and I'm better with him. The rare occasions that I play Smash 64, I was never great at Pikachu. --HavocReaper48 23:40, 24 August 2013 (EDT)
  5. Just the fact that he's just randomly overpowered makes him epic. I never liked Pika in SSB64. ----- Conanshinichi 08:39, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
  6. Pikachu! BEHOLD MY POWER!!! And besides, he's awesome c:! Cobravictim (talk) 11:17, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
  7. I would've voted for Pikachu if I played Pikachu. I know Meta Knight is really controversial and not a lot of people like him taking 5/8 of the top 8 in most tournaments, but at least I play him and he's fun to play, even if broken. --Timson622222 (talk) 21:19, 25 August 2013 (EDT)
  8. He doesn't use zero-death combos to kill people. Awesome Cardinal 2000 00:16, 26 August 2013 (EDT)
  9. Very underpowered. Pls buff. Mr. AnonAnon.pngtalk 16:33, 26 August 2013 (EDT)
