About me

I've played Smash for a very long time and have competed in some tournaments but irl stuff, my horrible anxiety, and a general lack of motivation at the time prevented me from actually taking it as seriously as I could of. As I've gotten older, I've taken more of an active interest in it since I can manage my mental health and responsibilities better than when I was younger. I haven't been to any tournaments since COVID but will plan to in the future. I generally edit the attributes, changes, and moveset pages, mainly for the characters I play, but other fighters as well.

Brawl

I started playing Brawl casually but eventually grew to enjoy Wi-Fi, watching competitive matches, and learning more advanced tech. I initially mained Snake for a bit, but I strongly dislike the way he is designed due to his absurdly huge janky hitboxes (even though this would have been a boon for me if I played him), extremely laggy aerials, and horrible ground to air transitioning, due to his 9 frame jumpsquat. Eventually, I found a new main in Zero Suit Samus who I thoroughly enjoyed for her many different setups, movement tech, and item game with her Power Suit Pieces (utilizing glide tosses and jump cancelled throws was something I got good at and consistently did). I still play Brawl to this day, as despite many issues I have with the game, I still enjoy it and it got me into the series.

Smash 4

When Smash 4 first came out, I did not enjoy the game very much at all but it grew on me in early 2015. I had trouble finding a main character to play mainly because I didn't like the changes they made to ZSS (even though she was technically buffed) and I couldn't find a character I was interested in putting time and effort into learning until Ryu came out, who I loved to play due to the large amount of setups and combo opportunities he had as well as his combo breaking options. It took a lot of practice and grinding to master his inputs and get good with him but I eventually developed a reliable and consistent gameplan with him. I haven't played the game in a while and if I were to return to it for some reason, it would definitely take some derusting in order to get back to as good as I once was.

Melee

Throughout Smash 4's competitive lifespan, I eventually got into Melee which to this day, I spend a great deal of my free time playing and labbing with Fox, albeit not to the degree of Ultimate.

Ultimate

I've been playing Ultimate for some time now and it is definitely my favorite Smash game. I made a return to my original main of Snake, as I am very happy with the changes made to him in this game. He is easily my best character and by far my favorite character to play, mainly due to his edgeguarding and the sheer versatility of his moveset. Other characters I like to play include Roy, Terry, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Ness, and Incineroar, although I generally only pocket these characters and have not invested a significant amount of time into them.

Trivia

  • My favorite type of character are characters that are very setup heavy and have great punish games.
    • I also like grab heavy characters (grapplers or, in Smash, half-grapplers), but I don't main them.
  • I don't have any secondaries. I only solo main characters so I can invest the most time into my main to become as proficient with them as possible, since I feel that each of my mains can beat every other character in their respective games with enough practice and mastery. I have quite a decent amount of "pocket" characters (pocket is in quotes because I don't use them in competitive play but I still play them online or for fun and can definitely hold my own against skilled players with them), however.
  • I have a very strong abhorrence for Captain Falcon and will never play him (unless someone and I are doing randos and I get unlucky enough to get him).
