Revision as of 23:43, February 23, 2008
- This article is about Wolf's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. For other uses, see Wolf O'Donnell.
Wolf O'Donnell (ウルフ オドネル, Urufu Odoneru) is a hidden character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Though not officially confirmed on the Smash Bros. DOJO!! website, Wolf has been confirmed via a Japanese leak of the game. He appears to be somewhat similar to Fox and Falco, although various videos shown that he is much more unique, moreso than Falco to Fox.
How to Unlock
- In the stage "Iseki" (Ruins) skip the first door you pass when being lowered in to the pit. Instead enter the second door at the bottom. Then, defeat him afterwards.
- Play 450 VS matches. Then, defeat him afterwards.
- With Boss Mode unlocked, finish Boss Mode as Fox.
Role in the Subspace Emissary
Wolf is an optional character in Subspace Emmisary, much like Toon Link and Jigglypuff. He will only appear if you rescue Zelda from Petey Piranha. If you do this, than you can find a secret door in one of the stages, it will take you to Lylat Cruise, where you will fight Wolf. Other than that, he doesn't have a major role in the Subspace Emissary.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Neutral A combo and Forward Smash have considerable forward movement, making them good for approaches
- Down Smash deals great horizontal knockback
- High knockback attacks
- Heavy
- Fast and fast attacking, especially for such a heavy and high-knockback character
- Has a powerful spike
- Smashes can all KO at decent percentages
- Decent Projectile
- Can Reflector-Spike
- Up B and Smash B can both recover
- Many attacks can combo in to each other
Cons:
- Smashes are fairly slow (albeit some are decent, like his Down Smash and Up Tilt)
- Projectile is fairly slow and short-ranged
- Reflector does not do much on the ground, and does not slow descent
- Recovery is fairly short, despite having two options
Standard Moves
- Dash A - Does a flip kick while still moving forward. Similar in appearance to doing Fox's upsmash while running, but obviously not nearly as powerful.
- Neutral A - Swipes three times with claws, the third hit moving you significantly forward. If you use this move on one side of someone who is shielding, the third hit will move you past them, making it impossible for them to shield-grab you.
- Forward Tilt - Extends one hand, slashing. If it hits, it pauses the opponent and hits them twice, sending them away with decent knockback.
- Up Tilt - Kicks leg vertically, then hops slightly off the ground. Very good vertical knockback, and comes out quickly. Hits a decent range in front of him, and at low percentages can combo several hits.
- Down Tilt - Swipes one leg forward along the ground. Can trip.
- Forward Smash - Lunges a long distance forward with one arm extended, palm out. Similar to Captain Falcon's forward smash, except with twice the horizontal range, and comes out faster and lags less.
- Up Smash - Jumps upside down and does the splits, scissoring his legs upwards. The split-kick can knock people on both sides up in to the scissor kick, which hits a large range vertically.
- Down Smash - Crouches and swipes one hand forward and then back. Large horizontal knockback.
- Neutral Aerial - Curls into a ball and spins, hitting multiple times.
- Up Aerial - Swipes above him with his claw, making a slash appear in an arc above his head. Good juggling move.
- Down Aerial - Holds his hands above his head and thrusts one foot downwards, bringing his hands out to the sides. The sides of this move knock away, and the bottom spikes very powerfully.
- Back Aerial - Swings his leg backwards, similar to Samus's back Aerial. Very strong move.
- Forward Aerial - Slashes forward. Decent vertical knockback, but if he lands while doing this he will fall as his landing animation, giving it large landing lag.
Special Moves
- Standard Special Move: Blaster (?)
- Side Special Move: Wolf Illusion (?)
- Up Special Move: Booster Pack (?)
- Down Special Move: Barrier (?)
- Final Smash: Landmaster
Taunts and Entrance Pose
- Up: Howls.
- Side: Does a few kicks, and says "Something wrong?"
- Down: Gets down on his hands and snarls.
- Entrance Pose: Wolf flies to the stage on his Wolfen
