Notes
  • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
  • Replay data that is saved in the game prior to the patch update will no longer be playable after the update.

1.0.2

This update was released on January 29th, 2015. The following stages are now available in 8-Player Smash, with certain stage events removed to adjust for performance:

Metroid (universe) Pyrosphere - Ridley and associated stage hazards do not appear, and there is no lava flowing in the background.
Animal Crossing (universe) Town and City - No background characters appear.
Wii Fit (universe) Wii Fit Studio - The background does not change to a mirror.
Mario (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Luigi's Mansion - The mansion cannot be attacked or destroyed.
Star Fox (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Lylat Cruise - The background stays as a constant scene in space, with no Arwings or asteroids.
Mario (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Mario Circuit (Brawl) - There are no Shy Guy hazards.
Metroid (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Norfair - No lava waves appear.
Pokémon (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Pokemon Stadium 2 - There are no stage changes, and the screen that normally shows battle information is blank.
Animal Crossing (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Smashville - No background characters appear.

Additionally, the following Ω forms are now available for 8-Player Smash:

Mario (universe) Mario Galaxy - The stage has been made larger, and background ships are removed.
Kirby (universe) The Great Cave Offensive - The stage has been made larger.
Animal Crossing (universe) Town and City - See above.
Star Fox (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Lylat Cruise - See above.
Mario (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Mario Circuit (Brawl) - See above.

In addition to these change the following minor changes have been made:

  • Saving to an amiibo from the amiibo menu no longer takes you out of the menu.
  • The text for when an amiibo is done saving has changed.
  • The name you gave to your amiibo is now displayed on the results screen if it wins.
  • Adjustments have also been made to balance the game and make for a more pleasant gaming experience.
Notes
  • This update must be applied in order to use the Internet features of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

1.0.6

This update was released on April 15th, 2015. It seems to have skipped 1.0.3 to 1.0.5, to match with the 3DS version.

  • Share mode has been added:
  • Users will be able to post photos, replay data, Mii Fighter data, and Custom stage data to the official server to share with other users around the world. Users will also be able to search and download the content as well.
  • Users will be able to post photos and Custom stages to Miiverse from within the game. Photos will be posted to the official Snapshot Sharing Community and Custom stages will be posted to the official Stage Sharing Community.
  • Users can download data from the server to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U if there is an activation button in the images posted on Miiverse.
  • Users will be able to share and exchange photos, replay data, Mii Fighter data, and Custom stage data with users on their Nintendo 3DS Friend List.
  • Name entry is now remembered between all modes, so players do not have to re-select their name every time they enter the fighter select menu.
  • Tweaked character balancing.
  • The following Ω forms are now available for 8-Player Smash:
Yoshi (universe) Woolly World
Star Fox (universe) Orbital Gate Assault
Wii Fit (universe) Wii Fit Studio
Pilotwings (universe) Pilotwings
Mario (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Delfino Plaza
F-Zero (universe) Super Smash Bros. Brawl Port Town Aero Dive
  • A new downloadable content fighter, Mewtwo, has been made available for those who were given codes. Players who do not yet have Mewtwo can still fight against it in online matches and watch replays of it on the Replay Channel.
  • New downloadable content costumes for Mii Fighters
Notes
  • Replays saved with previous game versions will no longer play after installing this update.
  • Mewtwo and new Mii Fighter costumes will not work without this installing update.

1.0.7

This update was released on April 23rd, 2015.

  • Bug fix This update resolved the issue in which the game erroneously interprets Global Smash Power as invalid data and becomes unable to connect to the Internet after using Mewtwo in the following game modes: Classic, All-Star, Stadium, Trophy Rush, and 3DS exclusive mode Smash Run.
  • Even though the notice states that replays saved with previous game versions will no longer play after receiving this update, they can still be played.

  • New Music.
  • Concurrent with the update to the game itself, an app named Smash Controller was released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop for $0.99 USD. The app is a standalone instance of the "Wii U" menu in the 3DS version, allowing players without their own copy to use their 3DS system as a controller for the Wii U version. This is the only functionality of the app; the ability to transfer custom characters is not present.
