The Franklin Badge is an item for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and originates from the EarthBound universe. When equipped, the user will automatically deflect to all projectile attacks while the item lasts. It is very small and hard to see when it is attached to a player. This causes problems for opposing players who don't pay attention. This can also work against the player using the Franklin Badge, as it may be difficult to notice when it disappears.
