Donkey Kong (SSB4)

Donkey Kong (ドンキーコング, Donkī Kongu) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. Appearance wise, Donkey Kong appears to have a more stylized fur-effect, even more so than he did in Brawl.

Confirmed information

  • The following moves are unchanged:
    • Forward tilt
    • Forward smash
    • Neutral aerial
    • Back aerial
    • Forward aerial
    • Up aerial
    • Down aerial
    • Forward throw (carry animation and cargo forward throw)
    • Giant Punch
    • Headbutt
  • Spinning Kong looks to keep its knockback resistance when grounded. DK also no longer spins completely horizontally when he uses the move on the ground, but instead spins at an angle.
  • Hand Slap can be used in midair.
  • Konga Beat returns, with an indicating bar above Donkey Kong showing when to press the attack button.
  • Donkey Kong now has the ability to roll like in the Donkey Kong Country series, possibly as a new dash attack.

Special Moves

In Super Smash Bros. 4, special moves can be swapped out for different variants, but only a few of Donkey Kong's are known. All of Donkey Kong's original special moves and his final smash are retained. These are DK's special moves:

Special Move Basic Custom 1 Custom 2
Neutral Special Giant Punch - Storm Punch
Side Special Headbutt "launch-resistant variant of Headbutt" -
Up Special Spinning Kong Giant Slam
Down Special Hand Slap - -
Final Smash Konga Beat - -
