As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Porygon2 uses Tackle as its attack, much as the original Porygon did in SSB's Saffron City. Once released, Porygon2 will instantly dash a short distance horizontally then disappear. Any character that makes contact with Porygon2 when it's moving will take significant damage and a huge amount of horizontal knockback; surprisingly, targets are sent in the opposite direction Porygon2 launched itself. This attack is an exceedingly powerful semi-spike, capable of KO'ing characters as low as 25%. In some situation, characters with great horizontal and decent vertical recovery can recover back to stage easily than the characters with poor vertical and horizontal recovery. Combined with the blinding speed of the attack, Porygon2 is arguably the most dangerous non-legendary Pokémon in the game.
As a trophy
Porygon2 features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:
- Representing the next step in technological progress, this Virtual Pokémon is a higher-powered version of the man-made Pokémon, Porygon. Compared to the sharp edges of its relative, Porygon2's body is extremely smooth and rounded. In battle, it utilizes a special move called Conversion 2 to alter its type.
- Pokémon Gold & Silver 10/00
