Zackray (ザクレイ) is a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player from Tokyo, Japan, considered the best player in Japan at his peak from 2019 to 2020. Although he currently focuses on Pit and Dark Pit, he is known for his mastery over many characters and his ability to quickly pick up new characters, playing high-level tournaments with more than 20 different characters and winning majors with Wolf, Joker, R.O.B., and Sora. He is the best Pit, Dark Pit, and Wolf player of all-time, as well as one of the best Joker and R.O.B. players of all time. In addition, he remains the only player to win majors with solo-Wolf and Sora.
In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Zackray was a Corrin and Bayonetta main who also used Marth as a secondary. He was considered the biggest rising star towards the end of the game's lifespan, with his victories at Sumabato 27 and Sumabato Smash 4 Final leading many to consider him one of the best players in Japan despite his short tenure in the game compared to other players. He was ranked 88th on the Panda Global Rankings 100 and was the youngest player ranked globally in Smash 4.
On December 6th, 2018, Zackray announced his new sponsor GameWith.[1] GameWith merged with DetonatioN Gaming to form DetonatioN FocusMe on December 22nd, 2022, signing Zackray in the process.[2]
Zackray is able to play unconventionally with normally considered passive characters, such as R.O.B., aggressively searching through weaknesses in an opponent’s mindset, yet able to maintain a calm and calculating stance throughout sets. In neutral situations, he patiently waits for the opponent to move and counterattack at the right opportunity. Zackray is also known for picking up many characters for his adaptation to certain matchups as well as downloading data on his opponent's playstyles. He did this to Maister by going Sonic for the first 2 games of the set in The Big House 9, and by reverse 3-0ing him by going back to Joker.
Zackray is often nicknamed to be "Mr. Kagaribi" in the English community due to him making top 8 at all Kagaribi's he's attended since Kagaribi 1, while only missing attendance from Kagaribi 7 and Kagaribi 8, as well as having won 2 of them. This also notably includes Kowloon 12 with Kagaribi, which was a partnership between Kowloon and the Kagaribi series.
