Smash Ultimate Summit 5 is an ongoing major Super Smash Bros. Ultimate invitational tournament. It is the fifth installment of the Smash Summit series for Ultimate, and is being held from September 15th-18th, 2022 at the Summit Gaming House, a private residence house in Los Angeles, California, which is closed to the general public.
Due to complaints that took place during Smash Ultimate Summit 4 as well as a perceived "Summit fatigue," a vote cap was added to the voting stage: a maximum of 100 votes could be earned in the shop, while registering for Mainstage 2022 and any of the qualifiers for The Arcadian gave an additional 100 votes and 5 votes per qualifier, respectively.[1] The voting process itself also received changes: instead of having eliminations and invitations throughout the week, the entire process took place on August 23rd across 4 hours at The Summit Countdown show, with each hour featuring one invitational and a certain amount of eliminations. The total number of votes each player received was also hidden until The Summit Countdown.
