The Cave (洞窟, Cave) is the 13th stage in the Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Overview

The stage consists of Pit, Mario, Link, Yoshi, and Kirby continuing their pursuit of King Dedede. The stage follows the events of The Lake Shore, in which Dedede fled the group with the trophies of Ness, Luigi, and either Peach or Zelda, based on the player's initial rescue during Midair Stadium.

This level starts with a cutscene depicting the group finding a hole in the wall of Dedede's Castle leading into the cave. The whole stage is littered with booby traps that can crush the smashers. Instead of Dedede and the trophies however, they find Bowser and only the trophy of Peach/Zelda, the former of whom had infiltrated the castle earlier. Bowser barely manages to escape with the trophy by riding on his personal vehicle. The four heroes look on in despair while Kirby investigates a Dedede brooch that had fallen off the princess earlier.

Afterwards, two R.O.B.s activate a Subspace Bomb that pulls King Dedede's castle, along with the trophies of Dedede, Luigi, and Ness into Subspace.

Meanwhile, Ganondorf is in his control room when he receives a new message from Master Hand.
