Sheik represents Sylvando, who wields swords and small knives, so the puppet fighter is equipped with a Beam Sword and often uses Needle Storm. Zero Suit Samus represents Jade, as both are skilled martial artists with feminine figures, while the tiny King Dedede represents Rab, a rotund man who wields heavy wands similar to Dedede's hammer. Finally, Ike represents Hendrik, a heavily-armored man who can wield greatswords similar to Ike's Ragnell.

Kirbys prefer neutral air attack reference to Slimes basic attack,where they will jump and strike the player in Dragon Quest series. Slimes are able to morph together into a single King Slime, which is what the giant Kirby represents. The first area of most Dragon Quest games (where Slimes are likely to appear) are grassy plains, represented by Gaur Plains.

Kirby starting with a Franklin Badge references how Liquid Metal Slimes are completely immune to spells (in this case, projectiles) in the Dragon Quest series. The time limit may reference how Liquid Metal Slimes typically flee in one turn rather than battling.

Trivia

• Prior to the informational video about Hero, images of Dragon Quest spirits were accidentally leaked through the Smash World spirit team database.
• The Hero's Comrades spirit battle has the most different fighters of any spirit battle, with seven.
• Tockles is the first (and so far, the only) spirit to be a part of a universe introduced via DLC, but to be released at a later date than that of the DLC itself.
  • Tockles is additionally the first (and so far, the only) spirit to be retroactively added to a DLC Spirit Board.
