Creating broken image links
This is the second time you have created a broken image link due to deleting a file without properly checking what pages use it. In particular, this file was used in the userspace and so I'm not sure if the replacement file looks the way that user would want it to on his page, so I'd also like to ask if the new file looks the same as the old one? In future can you please be more careful when you delete files. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 07:46, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
- To be quite frank, given that this wiki is a community effort, it shouldn't solely be my (or any administrator's) job to check to see if a speedy delete image (or page) still links elsewhere, since it's being marked for "get this out of the way ASAP". That is not to say that I won't check again in the future, however.
- As for the image itself, replacing the image in the user's userbox with the currently active JPG doesn't change a thing, and the new file is, in fact, the same as the old one (just as a JPG instead of a PNG). Aidan, the Rurouni 10:38, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
- And before a foul cry is made, I did bring back the image just to check, before fixing the broken image link myself. Aidan, the Rurouni 10:42, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
- I'm not defending the behaviour of whoever tagged the file, but as an admin it absolutely is your responsibility to check yourself before you delete the file. It even reminds you to do this on the speedy delete template. Also, you say that like checking the file usage is a burden when the file page itself lists any pages which use the file, including user pages, so it really isn't that big a deal to just make sure that things like this don't happen. It is the admin's responsibility to make sure that a file is not used when deleting it. If it is, it is also the admin's responsibility to decide whether or not the file should be kept (in the case of it being used on userspace, it should), or deleted and the images removed. Given that this was a replacement for userspace, you probably should have just flipped it over yourself, or at least asked the user to. SerpentKing 11:22, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Like I said, it shouldn't (in my opinion) be left up to solely us. But, given that we're the only ones who can actually delete images, I guess it's only fair. I'll keep a better watch next time. Aidan, the Rurouni 12:16, August 30, 2019 (EDT)
Talk
Hey there, Aidanzapunk. As an admin on this wiki, how are you enjoying your work so far? Juju1995 (talk) 22:41, September 3, 2019 (EDT)
- It's not much, but it's honest work, as they say. Aidan, the Rurouni 23:42, September 3, 2019 (EDT)
Hey! Just to let ya know, I'm recreating the Goemon page due to his appearance as a Mii costume in Ultimate. Shinobi76 (talk) 23:30, September 4, 2019 (EDT)
- Don't tell me, just do it. I wasn't the one to delete the page, lol. Aidan, the Rurouni 23:35, September 4, 2019 (EDT)
Hey! Another issue. https://www.ssbwiki.com/File:Terry_Bogard_SNK.png has been giving me a insanely tough time with trying to remove the background. Any time I do that, the image on the page still has the background, and the one time the background wasn't there the proportions were all outta wack. Help me with this, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shinobi76 (talk • contribs) 02:39, September 8, 2019 (EDT)
- Normally, when you upload a new image, the cache isn't updated automatically; hard refreshing the page will fix the issue. Aidan, the Rurouni 03:53, September 8, 2019 (EDT)
PO Fighting or Sport
The site that you listed, Retrogamage, is a fan site. At the very least not run by Nintendo. Every site I go on lists Punch-Out as either a fighting game or “also” a sports game. Such as its wiki which classifies it as both, at least by the wiki itself. As well as popularity sites and videos. Punch-Out does happen to match the definition of a fighting game. But all that doesn’t matter. If Punch-Out, and its characters, is not going to be listed as a fighting game on here, then it shouldn’t be referred to as such then. Calling it a “non-traditional” fighting game, is still considering it a fighting game. Please remove any mention of it not being a “non-traditional” fighting game if it’s not going to be considered as such. 172.58.173.180 16:23, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
- You missed the part where I said "zoom in on the box art", because, if you look at the box art, you'll see that the game is classified as one of the NES's "sports series". Calling it a "non-traditional fighting game" isn't even an accurate statement, because it's not a fighting game to begin with. Yes, there is fighting in it, but the center of the game is the sport, not the fighting. Boxing is officially classified as a sport, and games based on it are sports games. Is Wii Sports a fighting game because it has boxing in it? No. Aidan, the Rurouni 17:09, September 15, 2019 (EDT)
I know you're not in charge of Smash Arena but...
I figured since you're the most active you're the best person to ask: will we be getting a new SA event soon? Magicant has been the winner for the last 4+ months and this one is going over a year and a half. I tried contacting the operator Toomai and bumped it twice (the only reason I did it a second time is because he was online and recently commented on his talk page, otherwise I wouldn't have) but he never responded on the matter. I know the status is currently red but I was wondring if you could help, but don't worry if you can't.SupαToαd64, the Best 18:46, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
- I don't think I'm currently in a position to change anything Smash Arena-related, but I may be able to do something (that you inadvertently just reminded me to do). Aidan, the Rurouni 19:00, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
- Smash Arena isn't even remotely a priority when the wiki is in red. SerpentKing 19:02, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
- SK is right, there's no plan on continuing SA until the wiki gets caught up on SSBU stuff (which probably won't happen until Nintendo stops with the updates). Toomai Glittershine The Sharp 19:21, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
Red
Why is the wiki still in red when the Sans/Banjo/Terry news are old now? 174.55.24.64 19:26, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
- It's not about the recentness of the news - it's about the information we have left to cover. Terry still isn't out yet, there's more characters on the way, multiple characters still lack information about their moves, and that's just the Ultimate stuff - we're still missing stuff from Smash 4, even. There's a lot we don't have, so that's why we're on red. Aidan, the Rurouni 19:28, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
Luigi’s mansion 3
That game is just so close to being released however so it counts just like with Persona 5 Royal and Super Monkey Ball with Sonic. 174.55.24.64 13:17, October 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Super Monkey Ball is already out in the US, and it is the 31st in Japan, where P5R is currently exclusive to. Aidan, the Spooky Rurouni 13:43, October 30, 2019 (EDT)
- Luigi’s mansion 3 is out in Japan too. 174.55.24.64 14:58, October 30, 2019 (EDT)
Beast Ganon/Ganon the Demon King pages issue
The Beast Ganon page has all of the content, but barely any of the history. Ganon the Demon King’s page has all of the history, including the talk page, but none of the content. Also, everything that link’s to Ganondorf’s final smash links to Ganon the Demon King, despite all of the content being on the Beast Ganon page. 47.176.58.199 18:58, November 1, 2019 (EDT)
- Yea, there was a bit of the issue with the moving process. I'll see what can be done about it. Aidan, the Spooky Gentleman 19:41, November 1, 2019 (EDT)
Speedy delete
Not sure how to put this the best way but... the speedy delete section needs a cleanup. SupαToαd64, the Best 21:38, November 1, 2019 (EDT)
Incineroar's blue costume, could it resemble Hydreigon?

It has the blue & black, as well a s bit of purple in the hands. They're also both Dark types, so what do you think? ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 11:59, November 2, 2019 (EDT)

- Bump it, like everyone else does? Aidan, the Rurouni 14:02, November 2, 2019 (EDT)

Moving reeling to hitstun.
They should be right.
- Reeling happens after you get hit.
- But reeling happens before tumbling.
- You can't move when reeling.
- Reeling is more like another knockback animation.
Can't you just move reeling to hitstun instead? 209.140.44.247 17:56, November 11, 2019 (EST)
