- This article is about a tactic in the Super Smash Bros. series. For the alias, see Gideon.
Kamikaze essentially refers to taking hold the opponent with a grab or otherwise and falling off stage with them, committing Self-Destruct as well as knocking out the opponent. While the use may sound questionable, it can be very effective in stock battles, especially when the player has already taken a critical amount of damage, to stay ahead.
Kirby's use of kamikaze tactics is well known and very effective, and has been coined as "Kirbycide". Kirby can even avoid the SD in some cases.
- Donkey Kong's kamikaze involves his Forward throw technique, a unique move that allows him to carry his opponents. He can jump off the stage with this technique.
- Kirby's kamikaze is known as the Kirbycide. There are multiple ways to use a kamikaze move with Kirby, including both throws and inhalation.
- Bowser is capable of a kamikaze move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl by using his Side Special Move; upon grabbing an opponent, he will do a jumping suplex move; the momentum is controlled by the player and can cause Bowser to jump off the stage, bringing his enemy with him. Bowser is on top when this move is used, so the victim will die before Bowser.
- King Dedede is also capable of a move, nicknamed the "Suicidedede" or the "Regicide" by some. He uses his Standard special move and jumps off of the stage, carrying the opponent with him. It's known that if this move is used in a Sudden Death match, Dedede will emerge as the victor.
- Wario can use his Chomp to grab enemies in midair, working in the same way as Dedede's or Kirby's kamikaze.
- Ganondorf's Flame Choke if you catch someone with it off a stage turns into a suicide, meaning you cannot leap in front of it to try and ruin Ganondorf's recovery (like you can to Falcon or Ike
