Dragon Quest, originally called Dragon Warrior in North America, is a series of role-playing games originally developed by Enix, now Square Enix. One of the original huge success stories in Japanese RPGs, the games task the player with managing character parties as they explore various medieval fantasy-themed settings. It helped lay the groundwork that most other Japanese RPGs would build upon, including Final Fantasy and Pokemon.

Description

Dragon Quest was originally inspired by the North American computer RPGs Wizardry and Ultima, which happened to also be very popular in Japan. Famed mangaka Akira Toriyama was brought in to design the characters.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The main character from Dragon Quest XI is confirmed to be the second DLC fighter for the Fighters Pass. Other Dragon Quest characters including Erdrick serve as alternate costumes.
