Porygon2 uses Tackle as its attack, much as the original Porygon did in SSB's Saffron City. Once released, Porygon2 will instantly dash a short distance horizontally then disappear. Any character that makes contact with Porygon2 when it's moving will take 25% damage and a huge amount of horizontal knockback; surprisingly, targets are sent in the opposite direction Porygon2 launched itself. This attack is an exceedingly powerful semi-spike, capable of KO'ing characters as low as 25%, and for some situations can be equally difficult to recover from. Combined with the blinding speed of the attack, Porygon2 is arguably the most dangerous non-legendary Pokémon in the game.

Trophy information

Porygon2 features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches.

Representing the next step in technological progress, this Virtual Pokémon is a higher-powered version of the man-made Pokémon, Porygon. Compared to the sharp edges of its relative, Porygon2's body is extremely smooth and rounded. In battle, it utilizes a special move called Conversion 2 to alter its type.

Origin

Porygon2 is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is obtained by trading a Porygon that is holding an Up-Grade, and, starting with Generation IV, can evolve further into Porygon-Z by being traded while holding a Dubious Disc.

Tackle is a Normal-type move with 40 base power and 100% accuracy (35 and 95% before Generation V, 50 and 100% from then until Generation VI) and no added effects. It is a very basic move which consists of a simple charge against a single opponent, and it is part of the starting moveset of many Pokémon, including Porygon2, in all games.

Trivia

  • Porygon2 is the only Poké Ball Pokémon who vocalizes its cry from the Pokémon games instead of saying its name like in the animated series. This is possibly because, due to the adverse health effects caused in several viewers by flashing lights in an episode which prominently featured Porygon, no member of the Porygon evolution family made any further appearances in the series.
