[[:Category:Game Controls]]

should be moved to Category:Game controls per MoS, since "controls" is not a proper nown. Do you think you could get XL on that? Serpent SKSig.png King 02:27, 29 December 2016 (EST)

I've been having trouble getting XL to connect to the wiki and I don't yet know why. My best guess is a wiki upgrade is making things different than expected. I hope to fix it soon (two/three days), might have to reinstall PyWikiBot from scratch or something. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Honcho 10:49, 29 December 2016 (EST)

Hitbox Info

Hi, CpnFlacon again. No questions this time, but I just wanted you to know that over the next couple of weeks I'll be uploading all of the data into the moves pages. So if you or any of the admins are looking through the recent changes and see a bunch of new moves pages created by me, that's why. CpnFlacon (talk) 11:13, 12 January 2017 (EST)

Don't forget to keep the {{technical data}} tag if you've added hitboxes but not frame timings. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Aurum 21:51, 12 January 2017 (EST)
Disaster Flare said to just put the {{competitive expertise}} tag on all of them, and that would encompass the need for a description and frame timings. Do you want me to put both? Also, I'm running into a few missing angle icons. If I remember correctly you're the one who makes those? CpnFlacon (talk) 13:50, 15 January 2017 (EST)
The way I see it, it's about what kind of knowledge you need to enter the info - frame data is more of a technical subject than descriptions and meta details. I would put both if both are missing.
I do upload necessary angle icons as I notice them. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Keymaster 06:54, 16 January 2017 (EST)

MvSubNav Formatting

We have recently run into a question about how the pages linked in these templates should be formatted. The templates have separate links for the special move and the default version of the move. I was wondering if you felt the default page should redirect to the special page, or if the special page should act as an overview and the default/customs pages should be where the move-specific technical data goes. CpnFlacon (talk) 16:28, 19 January 2017 (EST)

Took me a while but I found the previous discussion about this. Toomai Glittershine ??? Da Bess 06:53, 20 January 2017 (EST)
So the character's Special/Default should redirect to the main special page. Am I understanding that correctly? CpnFlacon (talk) 16:51, 21 January 2017 (EST)
If you're doing it as a redirect, then the [/X special] page should redirect to the [/X special/Default] page. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Producer 08:42, 22 January 2017 (EST)
Understood. How should the neutral attacks be formatted/redirected, since many characters have multiple hits? Should [/Neutral attack] just redirect to [/Neutral attack/Hit 1]? CpnFlacon (talk) 14:55, 22 January 2017 (EST)
For any attack composed of multiple parts, like neutral combos, Link's f-smash, or Dancing Blade, make a page for each hit as well as a page for the attack overall. See Mario (SSBB)/Neutral attack. Toomai Glittershine ??? Le Grand Fromage 06:50, 23 January 2017 (EST)

Maybe you can help me

Normally, I'd be logged in as this user, but for some reason it's saying that I can't log back in. Something about my connection to this site being "not secure"; this site is also giving me this message:

There seems to be a problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a precaution against session hijacking. Go back to the previous page, reload that page and then try again.

It's working fine on my phone, but not on my computer. You got any suggestions for what I can do? 166.127.1.193 15:13, 30 January 2017 (EST)

I'm not really sure. I'm assuming you're already tried stuff like closing/reopening whatever browser you're using? Maybe try manually going to Special:UserLogout or Special:UserLogin. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Altruistic 06:28, 31 January 2017 (EST)
Closing the window does nothing, closing Chrome completely does nothing; Special:UserLogin no longer gives me an error message, but it doesn't log me in. I still have a "not secure" notification from my URL area, despite the SmashWiki being marked as secure. 166.127.1.199 13:03, 31 January 2017 (EST)
Maybe try a different browser? Serpent SKSig.png King 13:23, 31 January 2017 (EST)
Well, it works for Internet Explorer, the only other web browser I have access to on my school computer. I even tried logging in on another computer through Chrome at my school just to make sure it wasn't just my school, and it worked there too. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Lovely Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 18:14, 31 January 2017 (EST)
Oh this is a message from Chrome and not the wiki itself? Yeah, according to other NIWA members, Chrome has decided to stop supporting any login page that doesn't use HTTPS. Yell at Porplemontage until he fixes it. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Ghostbuster 06:26, 1 February 2017 (EST)

(reset indent) Well, I would, if I couldn't log on through Chrome on other computers. My own Mac at home and other computers here at my school have logged me on just fine with Chrome. 166.127.1.192 09:04, 2 February 2017 (EST)

On April Fools, I mean. Just out of curiosity. Unowninator (talk) 12:39, 1 April 2017 (EDT)

When you clean up, you won't be able to delete any joke pages unless you're an admin. MHStarCraft Mega Man X SNES sprite.png 12:43, 1 April 2017 (EDT)
Special:Log/upload gives us an easy way to track new images; there is no corresponding way to do so for new pages. So while it's really easy for an admin to clean up AFD images, doing so for new pages relies on the perps tagging them for deletion if we don't want to slog through a full day of RecentChanges. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Spark 12:44, 1 April 2017 (EDT)
Huh, I could've sworn there was a way to show the new pages. Okay, well thanks for the answer. Unowninator (talk) 12:46, 1 April 2017 (EDT)

??? (That said, it would still be an understandable restriction insofar as it requires admins to clean up after non-admins, but either way is fine.) Miles (talk) 13:53, 1 April 2017 (EDT)

Huh that's irritating, to have a log that's not part of the logs.
That said I do think the amount of images being uploaded this year is way higher than previous years. Not sure what the deal is there. Might not be a bad idea to put a soft restriction on that too. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Polychromatic 14:52, 1 April 2017 (EDT)

Rename request

I would like to change my username from "Heymrraja" to "ABAP".

The following text is just a reminder to myself regarding the username change process. If possible, I would like for the change to immediately take place. Thank you.

(After a short period of time (such as a few days), post again in the section stating that you wish to confirm the name change. The bureaucrat should then follow through with the rename process, which will automatically rename the user and move all userpages accordingly. The user is then expected to edit their userpages and signature to suit their new name. Requiring users to wait a short while before confirming the request is done to ensure that no name changes are done on a whim - they should be well thought-out as a serious commitment. If you forget to perform the confirmation process, perhaps you don't want the name change that much after all. Note that in the case of fixing an inappropriate username, the rename should go through immediately, without the extra confirmation process.)

No immediate changes sorry; everyone goes through the re-confirm process. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Bold 06:26, 13 April 2017 (EDT)

Username Change Request?

Hi, Toomai. I am aware that you are the only active bureaucrat (if I'm right?) and such, you're the only one with the power to change usernames at your will. If you would let me, I would like my username to be changed to "stefanog123". It's pretty much the same username, except without capital letters. Also, I think I have used one of your templates for my user page (though I still gave you credit), the Competency Charts. If you would like me to remove them, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. I will read your response in a couple of days. Thank you very much!!

stefanog123 —Preceding unsigned comment added by StefanoG123 (talkcontribs) 02:45, 17 April 2017‎ (EDT)

The first letter of all usernames is automatically converted to uppercase. I can change your name to "stefanog123", and you can use it everywhere like that, but it will still show up as "Stefanog123" in many places. Is this okay? Toomai Glittershine ??? The Engineer 06:43, 17 April 2017 (EDT)

Yes, it's ok. Thank you. Sorry for the late reply :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by StefanoG123 (talkcontribs) 01:00, 3 May 2017 (EDT)

Smash Arena

Excuse me! We have winner already in round 240. Can you do me a favor and update the forum? Dragonfirebreath25 (talk) 19:12, 14 May 2017 (EDT)

Hm I intended to put a comment noting that this round was supposed to last 2 weeks, because the previous round lasted 3 and game vs. game rounds are always a little more major, but apparently it never went through. Besides starting a new round on Sunday will leave that new round noticably shorter than a week. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Resolute 06:44, 15 May 2017 (EDT)

New Username

Hi, can I change my username to "Anna Maru"? I was told that Cyrillic characters were hard to type out for an English userbase. ANИa (talk) 16:35, 8 June 2017 (EDT)

I personally think a single "mirrored" letter is fine, since while it's true that people can't type your username exactly, using "ANNa" as a substitute should be easily understood by anyone. But if it still bugs you to be breaking the letter of the law, post here again in a few days as per SW:RENAME. Toomai Glittershine ??? Da Bomb 06:32, 9 June 2017 (EDT)
If that's the case, I'd still like for the username to be changed to ANИA, if only for better symmetry. I was not aware that I couldn't have a non-capitalized first letter, and it's starting to bother me a bit now. ANИa (talk) 21:47, 16 June 2017 (EDT)

Edit hiding

If you don't mind, could you hide the edits relating to this IP? They're rather unpleasant and I think we'd be better off not having them in the history. Miles (talk) 10:13, 9 July 2017 (EDT)

Wait can't we do that? I know crats can hide stuff from admins, but I can still view it. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:47, 9 July 2017 (EDT)
Nope, admins can only view deleted revisions; only bureaucrats can delete/undelete them. I don't really get it but it's a rare enough thing to have to do that it's not a problem. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Quintonic 06:46, 10 July 2017 (EDT)

Damage multipliers question answer

No, there appears to be no relation between number of enemies in a stage and the multiplier. There doesn't even seem to be a relationship involving DLC fighters. I honestly have no idea how the multipliers were determined. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 10:57, 15 July 2017 (EDT)

I mean, do the multipliers start low in a fresh save file and increase as you unlock characters? Toomai Glittershine ??? The Brazen 11:56, 15 July 2017 (EDT)
Oh, I don't know (and I don't particularly wan't to delete my data to find out) but I reckon it probably doesn't, since there is already compensation for this in the form of adding an extra heart container when all fighters are unlocked. Alex Parpotta the flying lobster! 12:19, 15 July 2017 (EDT)

Smash Forge and moveset subset pages

Smash Forge would be extremely useful for the moveset subset pages. I would create the gifs myself, but Smash Forge can't run on my pc for whatever reason. I'll tag all the pages, but could you possibly upload some of the gifs for some moves? Thanks! Penro 13:51, 22 July 2017 (EDT)

The Art-armsinstitute template is broken.

It redirects to a page called "Main Page", but that has since been deleted. I don't know how to fix it, can you? The new main page is here: https://armswiki.org/wiki/Home --Meester Tweester (talk) 19:27, 28 August 2017 (EDT)

I believe I've fixed the issue. The core problem was that {{InterwikiArticle}} assumed that every wiki's main page was at the title "Main Page" or that said page title would be a redirect to the main page's alternative name. I've just set it to instead point to the interwiki prefix without a target title, which thankfully MediaWiki is smart enough to default to the main page regardless of its title. (For example, [[mariowiki:|text]] turns into text and just links to the main page.) Miles (talk) 19:37, 28 August 2017 (EDT)
