The Soccer Ball is an item in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
In the Training update, a plethora of various items was showed to demonstrate the 'Select Items'-function. The Soccer Ball cannot be picked up, but attacking it will cause the ball to launch in the direction of the attack. The more powerful the attack, the further and faster the Soccer Ball will be launched. The ball cannot be stopped while its flaming.
Origins
Although not certain, it probably hails from the Animal Crossing series. It also may be from the game Super Mario Strikers, as the flame effect on the soccer ball also appears in that game.
