In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4, Mr. Game & Watch, like other characters, can automatically grab a ledge in the middle of using his up-special. If he does not grab a ledge, he deploys his parachute to slow his descent on the way down. The parachute can be deactivated by using an aerial attack, and an attack like Mr. Game & Watch's modified down aerial will pull him downwards at very high speed, giving Mr. Game & Watch the unique option of slowly floating or descending upon enemies at a very rapid pace, although this puts him in a helpless state again. Canceling the parachute as soon as it opens (at the peak of the ascent) results in Mr. Game & Watch fast-falling, allowing for mindgames. Mr. Game & Watch cannot use his up-special again until he touches the ground (otherwise this would give him a potentially infinite recovery). This attack does only 6% damage, but it is quick and has a decent knockback (though usually not enough to KO). If a CPU Mr. Game & Watch uses this attack and fails to recover, it will often spam Judge until the blast line is crossed. Fire (ファイア, Fire) is Mr. Game & Watch's up special move.

Overview

Two firefighters appear under Mr. Game & Watch, then use their fire rug to bounce him upwards. Since Super Smash Bros. Brawl the firefighters have a slight push effect around them. Mr. Game & Watch deals 6% damage and decent knockback to whatever he hits on the way up, but not on the way down.

At the peak of the jump, in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mr. Game & Watch becomes helpless; since Super Smash Bros. Brawl he instead opens a parachute (previously his neutral aerial) which slows down his descent. This state can be interrupted by using any other attack; in particular, Mr. Game & Watch's down aerial makes him fall at a very high speed, giving him a unique movement option. Canceling the parachute as soon as it opens (at the peak of the ascent) results in Mr. Game & Watch fast-falling, allowing for mindgames. However, once interrupted Fire cannot be used again before landing.

If a CPU Mr. Game & Watch uses this attack and fails to recover, it will often spam Judge until the blast line is crossed. In Brawl, this can be used to perform the parasol glitch.

Customization

Special Move customization was added in Super Smash Bros. 4. These are the variations:

1. Fire 2. Heavy Trampoline 3. Trampoline Launch
Fire
Heavy Trampoline
Trampoline Launch
"Launch into the air and open a parachute, allowing you to glide down." "Lower vertical distance, but you do more damage on the way up." "Launches you and any foes next to you in the air. No parachute included."
 1. Fire: Default.
 2. Heavy Trampoline: Does 12% damage. Less vertical recovery, only has a hitbox at the very beginning of the launch (not on the way up) and includes the parachute.
 3. Trampoline Launch: Does 10% damage, 16% if it hits at the start. More vertical recovery, is faster and has a powerful hitbox on the way up. Doesn't include the parachute.

Origin

A game of Fire.

Fire is a Game & Watch game where one takes the role of two firefighters trying to save people from a burning building. Various people jump out of various floors at various speeds, and it is the player's job to make sure that he or she uses the fire rug to bounce the people into the awaiting Ambulance at the other side of the screen.

The parachute property introduced in Brawl as part of the move (which was used in Melee as a neutral-aerial attack) comes from a game called Parachute, where a person in a rowboat tried to catch skydiving paratroopers from a helicopter to prevent them from falling into water.
