Chansey (ラッキー, Rakkī: Lucky) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.
Creature description
Chansey appeared as one of the original 151 Pokémon in the original Pokémon. A player could only obtain a Chansey in either the Safari Zone or the Unknown Dungeon. In Pokémon GS, Chansey would evolve into Blissey once it had reached max "Happiness". In Pokémon DS, a pre-evolutionary form called Happiny was introduced. Chansey has also made numerous appearances in the animated TV series. Most of the time, Chansey can be seen with Nurse Joy in the Pokémon Centers. Chansey aides the Nurse Joys in operations.
One notable feature about Chansey is the egg in its pouch. Chansey can use that egg to heal itself, other Pokémon, and humans. It can also use the egg for defensive purposes.
In Super Smash Bros.
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Chansey makes its first debut in Super Smash Bros.. In this game, Chansey uses SoftBoiled as its "attack". Chansey will give up to 3 eggs which contain items in them.
As a stage element
Chansey also appears in the Saffron City stage and gives eggs when it appears out of the door of the Silph Building. Also, it cures a small amount of health by touching players.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee
As a Poké Ball Pokémon
Chansey makes another appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Chansey's move is identical to the move used in the last game, but it will give up to five eggs this time. These eggs, being normal Eggs, will either heal, contain an item, or explode. Chansey can be KO'd in SSBM by any character or by items. Nothing is rewarded for KOing Chansey. Chansey does not harm any character in this game.
As a stage element
A giant balloon of Chansey (in actuality, the 3D model of Chansey used in Pokémon Stadium for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage. Compared to the other balloons, Chansey's balloon appears and disappears rather rapidly and jerkily.
As a trophy
Chansey features as a collectible trophy, unlocked as one of the 100+ trophies that can be collected randomly during normal play, such as in the Trophy Lottery and throughout the various Single-player Regular Matches. It reads as follows:
Renowned for its kind temperment, Chansey has been known to offer injured creatures its highly nutritious egg to aid their recovery. Legend has it that this charitable creature brings happiness to anyone who captures it. All Chansey are female, and every now and then one is found in possession of a Lucky Egg.
