Mike Haze eventually met a smasher by the name of INKS, who lived about 10 minutes away from him. Through INKS, Mike Haze learned advanced techs.  INKS eventually moved, however.  Mike Haze then ventured off to play new people, and is responsible for training/teaching smash to players such as Nes, Morb, and Tofu. He is responsible for the bringing together of a lot of the 818 smash community. He hosts smashfests at least a few times a week.
Mike competed throughout many west coast events throughout this era, although never reached a ranked player status in his initial days of Melee.  As of 2008, Mike Haze began playing ''Brawl'' for fun, while playing ''Melee'' competitively throughout Southern California.
