In the [[Metroid (series)|Metroid series]] the '''Screw Attack''' was an upgrade [[Samus]] could add to her power suit that allowed her to have another jump, another attack and in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, an extremely long glide. It debuted as an [[Items|item]] in [[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]. When holding it, the character's jumps were replaced with screw attacks. The player can also throw the item at others and if it touches them they do a screw attack and receive damage. In [[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]], the Screw attack will stick to the character and the character will be able to use other items while under it's effect.

The Screw Attack (スクリューアタック, Sukuryu Atakku) item alters a character's first and second jumps, changing them to mimic Samus Aran's Up Special Move (for which the item is named). If thrown at an enemy, they will be knocked upwards in a Screw Attack, dragging any nearby opponents (even the thrower) into the attack. They then fall down as if they had used a recovery move. Many players use this in a sort of Pseudo-combo with a constantly damaging Up-B attack, most notably Samus' Up- B of the same name.

  • When jumping, it does 8% damage.
  • When thrown, it does between 20-24% damage.
